PANGKALPINANG -- PT Timah Tbk provides its support for intervention programs to address the problem of stunting in Indonesia. This support is carried out as an effort to realize the Golden Generation 2045.
Children are the nation's next generation who will play a role in supporting the nation's progress, and stunting is a problem that must be addressed together to prepare quality human resources. So PT Timah Tbk takes a role in supporting reducing the prevalence of stunting in the company's operational areas.
Even though it operates in the mining industry, PT Timah Tbk is committed to improving the quality of life of communities in its operational areas and Indonesia while transforming to build a shared future.
To encourage improvement in the quality of human resources around the mine, members of the MIND ID Mining Industry holding through the Environmental Social Responsibility (TJSL) program are implementing several programs to reduce stunting.
Through the Stunting Reducing Activities (Kemunting) program, PT Timah Tbk is a concrete step in dealing with stunting from both a preventive and promotive perspective. PT Timah Tbk also provides additional food for children in the company's operational areas who are indicated to be stunting.
Through the Kemunting program, PT Timah Tbk provides education about stunting to students who will later become prospective parents, pregnant women, and also women's groups.
PT Timah Tbk's steps in alleviating stunting are carried out consistently and continuously in remote areas of the company's operational areas.
One of the residents of Gemuruh Village, Karimun Regency who received food assistance from PT Timah Tbk, Nur Aini, said she was very happy with the additional food assistance and education about handling stunting carried out by PT Timah Tbk.
"Due to the family's economic limitations, my husband's income as a traditional fisherman is very minimal, so this additional food assistance is certainly very helpful for me and my child. So it is hoped that my child will be healthier," she said.
One of the students at SMAN 1 Pemali who took part in PT Timah Tbk's Kemunting program, Jingga, said that he already knew about stunting, only today he just got the knowledge about preventing and handling stunting.
“It was really exciting when we were explained about new things that provided new insights. We often hear about stunting, but it turns out this is very widespread. "We have to take care from now on so that later we can give birth to a generation that is not stunted," she said. (*)
