Eight Fostered Partners Move Up, PT Timah Builds Resilient MSMEs to Support the National Economy

PANGKALPINANG -- PT Timah Tbk’s efforts to strengthen Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) continue to show positive results. In the first semester of 2025, eight of its fostered partners successfully moved up to a higher business level.

Through its Micro and Small Business Funding Program (PUMK), PT Timah continues to support MSMEs within its operational areas to grow and develop, thereby driving the economy, creating jobs, and helping businesses scale up.

The eight PT Timah fostered partners that advanced to the next level met several criteria, including an increase in the number of employees, loan value, production capacity, turnover, community involvement, product marketing, and obtaining national or international certifications.

As a member of the MIND ID Mining Industry Holding, PT Timah’s MSME development program goes beyond capital assistance. It also includes business mentoring, training to enhance MSME capacity, and support for promotion and marketing. These aspects have become key for business players to increase their capacity and competitiveness.

Since it was launched in 2000, PT Timah’s PUMK program has benefited thousands of MSMEs in various regions of Indonesia. PT Timah also frequently involves its fostered partners in exhibitions at both local and national levels.

One partner that successfully moved up, Lisnawati, who produces fish pilus and squid pilus, said her business had undergone many positive changes after becoming a PT Timah partner, including improved production tools and frequent participation in exhibitions.

“I am very grateful for PT Timah’s PUMK program. In addition to receiving capital loans, I was able to buy new production equipment and raw materials for pilus production. However, the current challenge lies in marketing because of the tough economic conditions that have affected turnover,” she said.

Nevertheless, she is thankful that PT Timah often promotes her products at various exhibitions, making them more widely known and helping to gradually increase turnover.

Meanwhile, PT Timah Tbk’s Department Head of Corporate Communication, Anggi Siahaan, said PT Timah not only provides funding but also equips MSMEs with skills, marketing strategies, and networking opportunities, with the hope that their businesses will remain sustainable.

“MSMEs are the backbone of the economy. That’s why PT Timah consistently supports its fostered partners so they can grow. Our hope is that more of them can move up, opening new job opportunities for surrounding communities,” he said.

With more MSMEs able to grow, compete, and contribute to regional economic growth, they will also play a greater role in creating jobs. (*)
