PANGKALPINANG -- As part of its commitment to supporting the education sector, PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk continues to strengthen collaboration between industry and educational institutions through internship programs for both students and university participants.
Through these internship programs, PT TIMAH provides opportunities for students to gain practical experience in a professional work environment. This initiative aligns with the company’s commitment to improving the quality of human resources in support of Indonesia Emas 2045.
Throughout 2025, PT TIMAH hosted a total of 417 interns, consisting of students and university participants from various regions across Indonesia.
Meanwhile, at the beginning of 2026, a total of 47 university students are currently participating in internship programs and are placed across various work units within the company.
PT TIMAH facilitates students and university participants through both Independent Internship Programs and Government Internship Programs coordinated through the Ministry. These programs are designed for both students and university participants.
These internship programs not only provide work experience but also serve as an effective learning platform for participants to understand the industrial world, enhance technical skills, and build a strong professional work ethic.
The interns are placed in various work units according to their academic background and field of study. This allows participants to develop relevant skills needed in the workplace in line with their respective disciplines.
One of the interns at PT TIMAH, Nailah Dhiya Syafiqah, a student from Universitas Sriwijaya currently interning in the Corporate Secretary Division, stated that her interest in choosing PT TIMAH was driven by the company’s strategic position in the national mining industry. As part of MIND ID, PT TIMAH is considered to play an important role in managing Indonesia’s mineral resources.
“In addition, I wanted to understand communication practices within a company and build professional networks that can support my future career development. PT TIMAH is highly aligned with my needs,” said the Communication Science student.
During her approximately two-month internship, Nailah admitted that she gained many valuable experiences, particularly in understanding how communication practices are carried out within a corporate environment.
She also learned how to adapt to a professional workplace while improving her communication skills, both interpersonally and within an organizational context.
“Interning at PT TIMAH has taught me how to adapt to the professional world and improve my communication skills. This will be an important asset for my future career,” she added.
Furthermore, she stated that her internship experience is highly relevant to the knowledge she has gained during her studies, especially in the field of communication.
“I can directly observe the application of corporate communication and public relations theories in the company’s daily activities,” she said. (*)
