East Belitung Regency Government Appreciates PT Timah's Environmental Management Program

EAST BELITUNG – Sustainable environmental management is PT Timah's commitment to carrying out the Company's business processes.

Various environmental management programs are carried out to maintain nature conservation.

Environmental management programs carried out include reclamation, tree planting, and protecting coastal ecosystems by planting mangroves.

In implementing environmental management, PT Timah collaborates with community groups and environmental activists, as well as the Regional Government.

As in East Belitung, PT Timah collaborated with Karang Taruna Gemilang, Lalang Village, Manggar District, East Belitung Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province to carry out the planting of 2500 mangrove trees at Nyiur Melambai Beach last weekend.

Assistant for Government and Social Welfare of the East Belitung Regency Government, Sayono, in this activity, said that the environmental management program carried out was good.

"PT Timah is a business entity that is related to the environment, if we see and hear that PT Timah has a very convincing program to ensure that the environment is well maintained," he said.

Sayono added that maintaining environmental preservation is very important for the sustainability of the ecosystem in the future. He hopes that all parties can care about environmental sustainability and continue to collaborate in activities like this.

"The obligation is that we must work together, where today we saw the initiation coming from the youth organization together with PT Timah, and of course this must be followed by others. Because I think there is not a single living creature that does not need a good environment, certainly everyone does. "This way we can provide mutual benefits," he said.

In welcoming PT Timah's 48th anniversary, he also expressed his hopes and prayers for the members of the MIND ID Mining Industry Holding so that they can continue to consistently manage the environment.

"At the age of 48, PT Timah has learned a lot from its journey so far, so keep doing it because we know that the minerals taken by PT Timah are minerals whose existence is very limited on this earth. "In carrying out its governance, PT Timah does not leave anything forgotten in preserving the environment," he said.

Meanwhile, Chairman of Karang Taruna Gemilang Apriadi Nur Putra said that in carrying out this activity his party also collaborated with PT Timah, Village Government, OPD, and Scouts.

"This activity aims to protect our environmental ecosystem, especially at Nyiur Melambai beach," said Apri.

In the future, he hopes that this activity can foster youth's love for the environment.

"We will also use this planting location to become a place for cultivating small crabs, because if this mangrove ecosystem works, the economic impact will be very high," he concluded. (*)
