SOUTH BANGKA – To ease medical expenses for residents, PT Timah has provided assistance for medical treatment to Ega Anggara (21), a young man from Teladan Village, Toboali District, South Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province.
Ega cannot lead a normal life like other young people due to a tumor, and he is currently bedridden in the hospital.
The eldest son of Windri and Santi, Ega has been suffering from this tumor for seven months. Four months ago, he was advised to seek treatment at a hospital outside Bangka Island. However, financial constraints prevented the family from taking him off the island for treatment.
"Ega has been battling this illness for around seven months, but we couldn't afford to seek treatment outside due to lack of funds. Four months ago, doctors recommended treatment, but once again, financial constraints held us back," explained Ega's uncle, Rendi Pratama (36).
Recognizing this situation, PT Timah Tbk provided financial assistance to support Ega’s medical treatment.
After receiving support from Mind ID’s mining holding member, Ega’s family quickly arranged for his treatment at a hospital in Palembang.
"After receiving assistance from PT Timah, we immediately sought treatment outside. Ega has now been hospitalized for 11 days, though his condition remains unstable, with occasional severe downturns," said Rendi.
According to Rendi, doctors have explained that Ega’s illness is rare and uncommon, requiring an extended course of treatment.
"This treatment process will be a long journey. We hope that PT Timah can continue to support and assist with our nephew’s medical expenses, as he will need surgery followed by chemotherapy and additional treatments," he concluded.
