PANGKALPINANG -- To provide early education on fire hazards and fire safety to young children, PT Timah, through its HSSE and Sustainability Division, held an educational activity titled "Fire Fighter Go To School" at TK Kutilang I Pangkalpinang on Monday (16/6/2025).
This program aimed to give children a basic understanding of personal safety and the steps to take in the event of a fire emergency from an early age.
Students at TK Kutilang I Pangkalpinang enthusiastically participated in the activity from start to finish. They were excited to take part in each session, from listening to the explanations, answering questions, to spraying water using a fire hose from the fire truck.
The main focus of the Fire Fighter Go To School program is to educate children about the dangers of fire and how to protect themselves in the event of a fire, starting at an early age.
The activity began with an introduction to fire hazards, causes of fire, and methods to extinguish fires using traditional tools, fire extinguishers (APAR), and fire trucks. The children also learned how to evacuate safely during a fire. The event ended with a hands-on session using a fire truck to put out a fire.
Lolita, Principal of TK Kutilang I Pangkalpinang, shared the purpose behind organizing this fire safety education activity for young children.
"The purpose of this event is to introduce young children to the dangers of fire and how to respond in the event of a fire, including proper evacuation procedures," she explained.
Lolita also expressed her hopes for the Fire Fighter Go To School program held at TK Kutilang I Pangkalpinang.
"We hope this activity helps children better understand the dangers of fire and know what steps to take to evacuate safely during a fire," she said.
PT Timah, through its HSSE and Sustainability Division, is committed to continuing similar educational programs in schools, especially in the company’s operational areas. This initiative is part of the company’s contribution to raising awareness and promoting a culture of safety in the community, starting with the youngest generation.
