Dry Season Disrupts School Water Supply, PT TIMAH Delivers Clean Water to SMKN 4 Pangkalpinang
PANGKALPINANG -- The dry season has begun to affect the availability of clean water at several public facilities, including educational institutions. SMKN 4 Pangkalpinang has also been affected, with its water supply disrupted for approximately one week.
To help meet the school’s clean water needs and ensure the continuity of its daily operations, PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk delivered clean water to the school on Thursday (September 17, 2026).
Ahmad Firmansyah, Principal of SMKN 4 Pangkalpinang, said access to water is essential as nearly 700 students, teachers, and staff carry out their daily activities at the school.
“The municipal water supply has been unavailable for about a week. This has significantly disrupted school operations. Water is an essential need to support daily activities at the school, from toilets and sanitation facilities to religious activities,” Ahmad said.
Ahmad explained that before receiving the assistance, the school had to find alternative ways to meet its water needs, including purchasing water.
“We previously had to purchase water after the supply was disrupted,” he said.
The school had been purchasing water to meet its daily needs. To address the situation, the school submitted a request for clean water assistance to PT TIMAH. The assistance has significantly helped the school meet the basic needs of its students and staff without adding to its operational expenses.

“This assistance has been very helpful. At least we do not have to incur additional costs, and we can meet the water needs of everyone at the school,” he said.
According to Ahmad, the water supplied is sufficient to meet the school’s needs for approximately two days. Although the assistance provides a temporary solution, the availability of clean water has allowed school activities to continue more comfortably during the dry season.
He hopes clean water assistance can continue if the dry season persists and the municipal water supply has not yet returned to normal.
“Water is vital to the safety and comfort of everyone at the school. We hope clean water can continue to be supplied to SMKN 4 Pangkalpinang. Hopefully, the dry season will end soon,” he said. (*)
