PANGKALPINANG -- As the dry season begins, demand for clean water in several areas of Pangkalpinang, Bangka Belitung, has started to increase. To help meet these needs, PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk distributed clean water to communities and educational institutions affected by limited water supplies.
The clean water distribution reached several locations, including Ar Royan Islamic Boarding School in Pangkalpinang, residents of the Griya Pangkalpinang Housing Complex on Jalan Kartini in Selindung Village, and residents of the Kencana Indah Housing Complex.
The clean water assistance reflects PT TIMAH’s commitment to helping communities meet their basic needs, particularly when dry weather conditions lead to increasingly limited access to clean water.
Sandi, head of the Griya Pangkalpinang Housing Complex community, said the clean water assistance from PT TIMAH has been very helpful to residents amid water supply conditions that have not yet fully returned to normal.
According to him, some residents have relied on wells and the municipal water utility (PDAM) to meet their daily needs. However, as the dry season begins, these water sources have become increasingly limited.
“Most residents can still manage with the available water sources, but conditions have started to become more difficult as we enter the dry season. In addition, the PDAM experienced a disruption, making it quite difficult for residents to access water,” Sandi said.
He noted that approximately 85 households in the Griya Pangkalpinang Housing Complex need access to clean water supplies.

According to Sandi, the clean water assistance from PT TIMAH was distributed at locations that were easily accessible to residents. Residents then collected and stored the water in various containers, including water jugs, buckets, and drums.
“Alhamdulillah, this has been very helpful for the residents. The water can be stored in water jugs, buckets, or drums for daily needs,” he said.
Sandi also expressed his appreciation for PT TIMAH’s quick response in addressing the community’s needs.
“Thank you to PT TIMAH for responding so quickly. This clean water distribution assistance means a great deal to us, especially during the dry season,” he said.
The clean water distribution is expected to help residents meet their daily needs while reducing the impact of water shortages during the dry season.
Previously, PT TIMAH also distributed clean water to SMKN 4 Pangkalpinang. In collaboration with the local government in Bangka Regency, PT TIMAH also distributed clean water to communities in Sungailiat. (*)
