PANGKALPINANG -- PT Timah attended a Public Hearing (RDP) with the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, held in the Banmus Room of the Babel DPRD on Thursday (July 17, 2025).
The hearing was chaired directly by the Deputy Speaker of the Babel DPRD, Eddy Iskandar, and was also attended by PT Timah President Director, Restu Widiyantoro.
Eddy Iskandar explained that during the hearing, PT Timah presented its work plans for the company moving forward.
On this occasion, members of the Babel DPRD also gave feedback regarding PT Timah's governance, CSR management, environmental management, and the optimization of securing the company’s IUP (mining license) areas from illegal mining activities to ensure a more optimal contribution to the people of Bangka Belitung.
"The RDP was to discuss PT Timah’s plans for 2026 related to mining and their community activities. We fully support PT Timah in managing Bangka Belitung’s resources properly for the welfare of the people. PT Timah is part of the state's entity assigned to manage natural resources," said Eddy.
He emphasized that PT Timah should involve the community in its business processes—from mining activities to social responsibility programs—so that it can help stimulate the local economy.
"Business processes must involve the community for their welfare—not just in mining, but also in CSR programs—so the economy can circulate," he added.
Meanwhile, PT Timah President Director, Restu Widiyantoro, presented the company's business processes, governance improvement efforts, the company's contributions in the form of taxes and non-tax state revenues (PNBP), social and environmental responsibility programs (TJSL), and the micro and small business funding program (PUMK).
Restu also explained the block system implemented to safeguard the company’s IUP areas, addressing the challenges posed by illegal mining encroaching into PT Timah’s licensed areas.
To improve the company’s performance and contributions, Restu sought support from various stakeholders, including the regulator DPRD Babel to support the block system as an effort to tackle rampant illegal mining.
"We appreciate the DPRD leadership and members for their input and information shared with PT Timah. We will follow up on the feedback provided because PT Timah has two main goals: increasing its contribution to the country through the tin sector and improving the welfare of the community and PT Timah employees," he said.
Restu also requested support from DPRD Babel to help PT Timah carry out its responsibilities in managing natural resources properly. With strong synergy and collaboration, he hopes PT Timah’s performance will continue to improve.
"With support from all parties, PT Timah is confident it can enhance its performance and provide optimal contributions to the community, the nation, and the state," Restu concluded.
