BANGKA – PT TIMAH Tbk's reclamation efforts across its operational areas over the years are now reflected not only in the transformation of post-mining land into green and productive landscapes, but also documented in a written work rich with experiences and lessons learned.
A total of 17 PT TIMAH employees have compiled their experiences, challenges, innovations, and reclamation journeys into a book titled SELARAS: The Harmony of PT TIMAH’s Reclamation in Northern Bangka, published by IPB Press. The book was officially launched at the Agro Garden in North Bangka Area, Batu Rusa Village, Merawang District, Bangka Regency, on Wednesday (June 17, 2026).
The publication of the book forms part of PT TIMAH’s efforts to document environmental management practices while also expanding public education on the importance of reclamation as an integral component of sustainable mining activities.
SELARAS presents a collection of experiences, challenges, and lessons learned from reclamation activities. The anthology includes articles such as Planting Hope in the Northern Land by Muhammad Romainoor, When Reclamation Calls Again by Tofan Randy Wijaya, A Glimmer of Hope from an Abandoned Mine Pit by Nilwan, Bangka: An Ancient Land Learning to Recover by Donika Randa, and Not Only Taking, but Also Giving Back by Marzono Malihin.

Other contributions include A Young Adventurer Following the Reclamation Trail in West Bangka by Dodi Fernandes, From Barren to Green by Oktafiandi, Nurturing Life After Mining by Mizipianto, and The Pomegranate Dilemma by Lido Setianto.
Additional stories enriching the book include Plant Fast, Care Late! Trust at Stake by Hendra B. Usman Zaini, When Plans Are Not as Beautiful as Reality by Ferry Donny, The Call of the Sea from Northern Bangka by Obed Agtapura, Artificial Reef: Ripples of Life Beneath the Waters of Karang Aji by Rahmat Wijaya, and Squid Restocking for a Sustainable Ocean by Robby Hardianto.
The book also features The Field Officer’s First Map by Denni Herdiansyah, Drones in the Reclamation Sky by Erwanto, and When Nature Is Given a Chance by Dendy Nur Hidayat. Through these diverse perspectives, the authors present a portrait of reclamation that goes beyond environmental restoration, highlighting hope, innovation, collaboration, and commitment to preserving sustainability for future generations.
PT TIMAH’s Department Head of Corporate Communication, Anggi Siahaan, stated that the publication of this book is part of employees’ efforts to document the knowledge, experiences, and practices developed through PT TIMAH’s reclamation programs.
The book serves not only as a record of the company’s journey in restoring post-mining environments but also as an educational medium demonstrating PT TIMAH’s commitment to responsible and sustainable mining practices.
“This book proves that reclamation is not merely a corporate program, but a long-term process involving dedication, innovation, and collaboration among many stakeholders. Through the stories of employees directly involved in the field, the public can gain insight into how environmental restoration is carried out in a tangible and sustainable manner,” said Anggi.
He added that the publication also serves as a knowledge-transfer initiative, ensuring that the experiences and lessons gained throughout the reclamation process can be passed on to future generations.
“We hope this book can serve as a valuable reference while strengthening public understanding that responsible mining activities must go hand in hand with commitments to protect and restore the environment,” he added.
One of the book’s authors, Tofan Randy Wijaya, explained that SELARAS was compiled as an anthology containing stories and experiences from individuals directly involved in reclamation activities.
He emphasized that the book was not designed as a formal corporate report but rather written in a more accessible style to reach a broader audience.
“SELARAS is not a corporate report. We wanted to present stories that resonate with readers so that anyone can understand the reclamation process from the perspective of those working directly in the field,” he said.
According to Tofan, documenting experiences is crucial amid the continuous evolution of organizations. Through this book, the knowledge and experiences of reclamation practitioners can be preserved and serve as references for future generations.
Similarly, Muhammad Romainoor noted that successful reclamation is inseparable from strong teamwork. Each site presents unique challenges, requiring collaboration among various stakeholders to achieve environmental restoration targets.
In addition to land reclamation, the book also highlights marine reclamation efforts. Rahmat Wijaya, one of the authors involved in underwater monitoring activities, shares his experiences in restoring aquatic ecosystems through various marine reclamation and conservation programs implemented by the company.
Through SELARAS: The Harmony of PT TIMAH’s Reclamation in Northern Bangka, the authors hope that the experiences and best practices documented in the book will become a valuable source of learning, enrich environmental literacy, and strengthen public understanding of the importance of reclamation as part of sustainable environmental management.
