Disabilities and Elderly in West Bangka Receive Wheel Chair Assistance from PT Timah Tbk

WEST BANGKA -- PT Timah Tbk handed over three units of wheelchairs to the people of West Bangka Regency. This assistance was handed over directly to the homes of beneficiaries who were paralyzed, Thursday (25/5/2023).

Three residents received wheelchair assistance from PT Timah Tbk, namely Selihun and Rofiah, residents of Sinar Sari Village, Kelapa District, and Rangganata, residents of Tempilang District.

Selihun (102) could not hide her happy expression when he received a visit from PT Timah Tbk to hand over a wheelchair for him. At the age of one century, she has difficulty walking.

"Every day my grandmother is like this, eats, bathes, walks slowly, starting at the age of 80 she can't walk anymore. Thank you to PT Timah for giving me a wheelchair for my grandmother. I hope everyone will be given health and longevity," she said.

In the same vein, Rofiah (45), who has been paralyzed since birth, showed a happy gesture when she saw the assistance of a wheelchair for her. She who could not speak could only show a happy expression.

"Rofiah has been paralyzed since she was a toddler, due to steps when she was a toddler, Rofiah can't stand up until now. Every day she is at home and walks relying on her hips and hands," said Rita Zahara, Rofiah's sister.

Meanwhile, Village Secretary Sinar Sari Midran appreciated the wheelchair assistance from PT Timah for the two residents.

"Thank you for your help, two of our residents really deserve to be helped. Mrs. Selihun because she is elderly and Rofiah has been disabled since birth, she is a disabled person. We hope that programs like this are maintained and sustainable," she hoped.

The head of the Tempilang sub-district Community Social Worker (PSM) Sandra said the social assistance provided by PT Timah Tbk was very useful for residents in need

"Alhamdulillah, PT Timah Tbk's CSR can help residents in need. One of them is Ranggadinata, who has been paralyzed since he was a toddler due to illness and can only lie at home. Rangga is taken care of by his two parents who only work as day laborers," he said.

Meanwhile, Rangga's mother felt both emotion and happiness when her baby received wheelchair assistance from PT Timah.

"Thank you to PT Timah Tbk for providing assistance and PSM Tempilang for proposing assistance for our child," he said. (*)
