WEST BANGKA -- PT Timah promptly dispatched its Emergency Response Team to assist the community in Tanjung Village, Muntok District, West Bangka Regency, which was affected by flooding on Wednesday night (17/1/2024).
In addition to directing the Emergency Response Team, PT Timah also deployed Fire Trucks to help manage the flood in RW 07 of Ulu Village, the most severely affected area. This flood disaster submerged residential areas, public facilities, and infrastructure, forcing some residents to evacuate to higher ground. PT Timah promptly came to the aid of the affected residents.
The Chairman of RW 07 in Ulu Village, Tanjung Mentok, Nurzali Hamid, stated that the flood occurred in the evening, causing homes and public facilities to be filled with mud and debris.
"The flood came around 8:00 PM local time, reaching a height of 1 meter, and began to recede at 1:00 AM. The flood brought mud and debris into the homes of the affected residents. As a result, residents had to evacuate to higher ground," he said.
According to Nurzali, PT Timah quickly assisted the flood-affected residents.
"Because tomorrow we will perform Friday prayers, we asked for PT Timah's assistance in cleaning the mud that entered the mosque, residents' homes, and the slippery roads due to the mud. Alhamdulillah, PT Timah responded quickly and immediately deployed the Disaster Response Team with Fire Trucks to clean the flood mud," he said.
He mentioned that PT Timah often helps the community in times of disaster.
"During previous floods, PT Timah also provided evacuation equipment, robin engines, cleaning tools, and much more. On behalf of our residents, we express our sincere thanks to PT Timah," said Nurzali.
Meanwhile, West Bangka Regent Sukirman, while inspecting the flood site, stated that PT Timah is always present among the community.
"PT Timah is always present, especially when it comes to communities experiencing disasters. PT Timah is on standby, spraying the mosque, residents' homes. Thanks to PT Timah for their maximum participation," he emphasized. (*)"
