PT Timah Tbk Kundur Area has structured its OHS Month initiatives into three main categories: Strategic, Promotional, and Implementational, following the directive outlined in the Circular Letter of the Director of Engineering and Environment/Chief Mine Inspector No. 19.E/MB.07/DBT.KP/2024, dated December 24, 2024.
The event lineup includes a mining safety seminar, a joint OHS ceremony, emergency response drills, 5S and fire handling competitions, and awards for outstanding employees who have excelled in implementing workplace safety measures.
A highlight of the celebration is the Mining Safety Seminar, themed "Strengthening Human Resource Capacity to Support the Implementation of the OHS Management System and Control of the Top Ten Diseases in the Mining Industry." The seminar will be held on February 4, 2025.
This seminar will feature two keynote speakers from Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM); Sastro Purba, S.T., Mining Inspector Coordinator for the Riau Islands Province, and M. Irfan Sabran, S.T., Mining Inspector for the Riau Islands Province
Sastro Purba emphasized that the National OHS program plays a crucial role in raising workplace safety awareness and fostering stronger teamwork among PT Timah employees.
"We hope PT Timah continues to improve workplace safety standards and achieve Zero Accidents. Implementing stricter SOPs, conducting regular evaluations, and providing training based on assessment results will significantly enhance both safety and productivity," said Sastro.
Additionally, a joint OHS ceremony will take place at the PT Timah Tbk Kundur Area parade ground on Friday, February 7, 2025.
Following the ceremony, the Kundur HSE Team will conduct an emergency response drill to ensure that all employees and partners are well-prepared for emergencies in the mining environment and that response procedures can be executed effectively and efficiently.
