BANGKA -- A high spirit of learning is the key to the success of Fiola Febiona, a student of PT Timah's Pemali Boarding School (PBS) program, in achieving achievements in the field of geography Olympiad.
Originally from South Bangka, Toboali, Fiola is grateful to be part of PT Timah's PBS program at SMAN 1 Pemali, which she says is very supportive of developing the potential of all students.
"To get in here, the selection is quite tight. So, Fiola is very grateful to be able to pass and get the opportunity to study in such a supportive environment," Fiola said.
Fiola's interest in geography led her to join the ASEAN Geography Smart Competition organized by Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI). The competition was a valuable experience for her, especially when she had to participate in the initial selection by making an educational video about geography. Fiola managed to achieve the highest score in the selection stage.
Fiola then traveled to Bandung to take part in the final round held at Ahmad Sanusi Building, UPI Campus. The competition consisted of written and practical exam sessions, where participants were tested on their in-depth understanding of geography. In the competition, Fiola won the Best Video award, a proud achievement for herself and PBS.
The full support from PBS, especially in terms of transportation and accommodation, allowed Fiola to focus on competing without a hitch.
"PT Timah through the Pemali Boarding School program really supports Fiola in participating in this Olympiad. All needs, including transportation and accommodation, are well facilitated," he said.
In addition to facility support, Fiola also feels that the scholarship he received from PT Timah through PBS has paved the way for him to achieve achievements that he had never imagined before.
"Through this PT Timah scholarship, Fiola was greatly helped. Initially, Fiola never thought she could reach this point, but thanks to the support, everything is possible," she said.
Although she is happy to be a PBS scholarship recipient, Fiola does not deny that there is a sense of sadness because she has to be away from her parents. However, she remains enthusiastic about her education and hopes that PBS will continue to exist to help other students in the PT Timah operational area.
“Hopefully, PBS will always be there so that it can continue to help children like Fiola to develop and achieve their dreams,” she said.
On the other hand, Fiola also expressed her best wishes for PT Timah.
“Hopefully PT Timah will be more advanced and developed, so that it can continue to support education and create the next generation of achievers,” she hoped.
