Complementing Base Ride Facilities, PT Timah Hands Over Assistance to the Garuda Toboali Ojek Community

SOUTH BANGKA -- Members of the Garuda Toboali motorcycle taxi, South Bangla, had happy faces when they wore the new vests given to them by PT Timah Tbk, Sunday (5/2/2023).

Ojek Garuda is a community of motorcycle taxi Bases that have been serving public transportation for a long time. To support the members of Ojek Garuda in seeking sustenance, PT Timah Tbk donated vests so they could be easily identified.

This assistance to the Garuda motorcycle taxi is a form of social and environmental responsibility or Corporate Societal Responsibility (CSR) for members of the Indonesian mining holding MIND ID.

The secretary of the Garuda Toboali motorcycle taxi, Apriadi (40) said, with the help of vests, they are more enthusiastic about pursuing this profession because it is part of their service to consumers.

“Alhamdulillah, we are delighted to receive this assistance. Hopefully, in the future, PT Timah can help us again, such as helmets and raincoats for example, because that's what we need in this motorcycle taxi activity, "said Apriadi.

The man who has been in the profession of a motorcycle taxi driver for 12 years said his income while working as a motorcycle taxi driver was uncertain.

"The Garuda motorcycle taxi base group has only been established for about 3 years, while I have been in the motorcycle taxi industry for about 12 years," he said.

Meanwhile, during his time as a motorcycle taxi driver, he had many experiences, both joys, and sorrows.

"It all comes back to each individual because this motorcycle taxi can be said to be a non-binding job and the income is also uncertain," he said.

Not only serve the surrounding area, but they also often accept customers to be delivered to areas that are pretty far away.

“In the past, I took the passenger to Muntok, and the majority I got the faraway passenger to Sungai Selan. Thank God, so far it's still safe and nothing untoward has happened," he stated.
