PANGKALPINANG -- Sustainable environmental management is PT Timah's commitment to implementing the company's business processes. Environmental management programs carried out include reclamation.
Members of the MIND ID Mining Industry Holding PT Timah carry out sea and land reclamation in the Riau Islands Province and Bangka Belitung Islands Province.
PT Timah in mid-2015-2023 carried out a land reclamation of 3,166.37 hectares in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province. Meanwhile, for 2024, PT Timah plans to reclaim 396.5 hectares of ex-mining land.
The form of reclamation carried out is Revegetation Reclamation such as fastgrowing plants, fruit plants, and oil palm plants as well as Reclamation in other forms. In carrying out reclamation, PT Timah also maximizes the involvement of third parties, including the involvement of the surrounding community.
The benefits of the reclamation program carried out by PT Timah have been felt by the community, such as other forms of reclamation carried out by PT Timah in Kampoeng Reclamation Air Jangkang and Kampoeng Reclamation Selinsing which have become joint tourist destinations.
Meanwhile, the Marine Reclamation carried out by PT Timah in mid-2016-2023 includes the sinking of 3,105 units of fish shelter or 66.16 hectares, coral transplantation of 1,475 units or 51.10 hectares, artificial reef 5,760 units or 96 hectares,
Installation of 2,360-meter abrasion barriers, 8.81 hectares of mangrove planting, 40,435 squid restocking, and 2,400 crab restocking.
Apart from carrying out reclamation, PT Timah is also involved in supporting environmental management programs carried out together with the Regional Government, Stakeholders, and Ministries. Environmental management activities carried out include planting mangroves, planting productive trees, and also reforestation.
