Commemorating World Mangrove Day, PT Timah Planted 4800 Mangroves in Baskara Bakti Village

CENTRAL BANGKA -- Commemorating World Mangrove Day 2024, PT Timah planted 4800 mangrove trees on Menuang Beach, Baskara Bakti Village, Namang District, Central Bangka Regency, Friday (26/7/2024).

This mangrove planting is part of a movement to plant 48,000 trees to welcome PT Timah's 48th anniversary which falls on August 2.

This is the second time PT Timah has carried out mangrove planting in Baskara Bakti Village in collaboration with Karang Taruna Becampak.

This tree planting activity also involved and was attended by the Central Bangka Maritime and Fisheries Service, students, youth organizations, the community, and Pertiba University students, the Head of the CSR Division of PT Timah Rahmat Taufik.

Head of the Central Bangka Regency Fisheries Service, Imam Suhadi, said that his party appreciates PT Timah's commitment to preserving the coastal environmental ecosystem in Central Bangka.

According to him, this activity can raise awareness to care about environmental restoration, especially coastal conditions which can become tourist and educational destinations.

"Thank you and salute PT Timah for providing special attention to coastal sustainability in Central Bangka. Hopefully this activity can take place and can provide added value and have an economic impact on the community," he said.

In the future, he hopes that collaboration in planting mangroves by involving fishing groups can restore an ecosystem rich in biodiversity.

The chairman of the Becampak Youth Organization, Nurholis, appreciated PT Timah's commitment to carrying out mangrove planting in their village for two years in a row.

This mangrove planting is an effort to maintain the ecosystem of coastal areas which will later be developed into tourist areas.

"Thank you to PT Timah for the second time asking us to plant mangroves here. We can see that the mangroves planted last year have grown. In the future, we will develop this into a mangrove tourism and beach tourism area," he said.

Likewise, the Head of Basakara Bakti Village, Bahtiar Efendi, appreciated PT Timah's commitment to helping prevent abrasion by planting mangroves. By replanting coastal habitats it can have an economic impact on the community.

"Thank you PT Timah and Karang Taruna who have done extraordinary work to carry out this mangrove planting and the benefits will be felt by the community," he said. (*)
