Commemorating World Environment Day, PT TIMAH Plants Trees and Cleans Asmara Dewi Beach in Karimun Regency

KARIMUN -- As part of the commemoration of World Environment Day 2026, PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk, through its Kundur Area Division, organized a tree-planting and beach clean-up activity at Asmara Dewi Beach in Sawang Village, West Kundur District, Karimun Regency, on Thursday (June 11, 2026).

The activity was part of PT TIMAH’s efforts to support environmental conservation while encouraging communities to take an active role in protecting coastal ecosystems.

During the event, PT TIMAH, represented by Kundur Area Division Head Ronanta, together with employees and stakeholders, planted casuarina and tropical almond trees and participated in a community clean-up effort along the beach.

Sawang Village Head Sumiyati expressed her appreciation for the activity, which involved local community members. According to her, the tree-planting and beach clean-up efforts will provide long-term benefits for both the environment and the community.

“We would like to thank PT TIMAH for involving the community in this activity. We hope the trees planted today will grow well and enhance the beauty of the beach area. If the site continues to be maintained and kept clean, Asmara Dewi Beach has great potential to become a comfortable and attractive tourist destination for the community,” she said.

Similarly, West Kundur District Head Yusufian praised PT TIMAH’s commitment to sustainability and environmental management in the region. He noted that the activity not only helped create a cleaner environment but also strengthened the relationship between the Company and the local community.

“We greatly appreciate PT TIMAH’s support. Through this tree-planting and beach clean-up activity, the environment is better preserved, and the sense of togetherness between the Company and the community continues to grow stronger,” he said.

Yusufian added that, if properly managed, Asmara Dewi Beach has the potential to develop into a new tourist destination that could generate economic benefits for the local community, including creating opportunities for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) operating in the surrounding area.

On the occasion, he also expressed appreciation for PT TIMAH’s various contributions, including the construction of coastal erosion protection structures that have helped safeguard coastal areas and residential settlements from the impact of tidal waves.

“We have experienced the benefits of the coastal erosion protection infrastructure that has been built. Residents now feel safer during high-tide seasons because the risk of coastal erosion has been significantly reduced,” he added.

The activity was attended by representatives from the Tanjung Batu District Prosecutor’s Office, the North Kundur/West Kundur Police Sector, the Kundur Military District Command, village officials, community leaders, as well as employees of PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk’s Kundur Area Division. (*)
