BELITUNG -- The Belitung Regency Environmental Service collaborated with PT Timah Tbk and other agencies to hold a healthy walk to commemorate World Environment Day in Belitung Regency.
The healthy walk around Tanjungpendam Tourism Beach in Tanjungpandan also invites the public to clean up trash.
The healthy walk participants carried plastic bags and were directed to pick up trash along the healthy walk route.
Belitung Environmental Service involved regional apparatus organizations (OPD) in the Belitung Regency Government, school students, and Belitung Environmental Service company partners.
"Thank God, the event was a success," said the Head of Belitung Environmental Service Yasa.
According to Yasa, this activity is part of a campaign for the wider community to reduce the use of plastic.
Meanwhile, the garbage collected was about half a large truck.
"With an event like this, hopefully, it will become a forerunner, so in the future, our environmental service invites the public and stakeholders to jointly tackle the problem of plastic waste," he explained.
He said PT Timah Tbk supported the event with other companies because the event did not use regional or provincial budgets.
"We thank the companies that have helped, especially PT Timah Tbk," he explained.
He hopes that PT Timah Tbk will continue to collaborate with DLH Belitung in other events in the future.
"We always routinely carry out activities like this, and we will involve the company later," he said.(*)
