Commemorating Garbage Day, PT Timah Tbk Supports Trash Camp Event in West Bangka

BANGKA BARAT -- Garbage is a global problem, which until now has not been fully resolved.

Through the momentum to commemorate the national waste day (HPSN) in 2022, PT Timah supports the HPSN event initiated by the Waste Bank KSM. /2022).

The 2022 HPSN event was attended by village administrators, Travel awareness groups, youth organizations, BUMDES, NGOs, organizations, as well as middle and high school students in the Bangka-West district.

In this event, participants will take part in various activities such as the Trash Camp, Waste Seminar, and Art Performances starting Friday-Sunday (18-20/2022).

Agreed Manager of KSM Waste Bank, Mexsi Diansah said that this activity was to find human resources in waste management.

"From this activity, we hope that there will be regeneration in the solid waste sector, because in environmental management we form the cadres first. No matter how good the program is, if there are no human resources who undergo it, the program will not be able to run, that's the concept," he said.

Mexsi, who is also the Secretary of Air Limau Village, expressed his appreciation to PT Timah. He hopes that the community empowerment program can continue to be supported by PT Timah.

"Here PT Timah provides rewards and other support for activities for three days and three nights at this tourist location," he said.

"We really appreciate PT Timah since 2001 they have supported us to commemorate Garbage Day, hopefully this activity can continue to be supported until it is downstream for community empowerment," he continued.

One of the camp participants, Havisa Amelia, a coconut high school student, admitted that there were many benefits to joining the Garbage Camp to commemorate the 2022 HPSN.

"From this activity, we gain knowledge about waste management. Waste that we view as useless, if we manage it properly, it can provide economic value, such as compost, handicrafts and others," he said Havisa.

Likewise, Yan Saputra, a student at SMA Negeri 1 Muntok, conveyed that he had received a lot of education from participating in this activity.

"This activity is very positive and useful for participants who take part in this event. Later we will educate our friends at school. Through this Trash Camp. It is better for us to reduce waste than recycle waste," said Yan.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of the Environment Agency of West Bangka Regency, Joni W.Candra, appreciated the activities initiated by the KSM of the Garbage Bank.

"We appreciate what the Agreed Waste Bank KSM has done in commemorating the HPSN, Garbage Care Camp," he said.

He assessed that PT Timah's support was very high in environmental concern. In fact, according to him, it can be an example for other companies.

"PT Timah's support is expected to be an example. Hopefully what PT Timah has done can be followed by other parties.
PT Timah is a BUMN from the past until now, the concentration is very high, especially through its CSR which is intended for environmental care, Hopefully, PT Timah continues to support it," he said. (**)
