KARIMUN -- As part of its commitment to community health and efforts to prevent the spread of Dengue Fever (DBD), PT Timah Tbk Kundur Area, in collaboration with the Kundur Barat Subdistrict Health Center, held a Dengue Prevention Health Seminar on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at the Wisma Timah Kundur Multipurpose Hall.
The event was attended by employee representatives from various work units, local residents, as well as the Subdistrict Head of Kundur Barat and the Head of the local Health Center.
The seminar is part of PT Timah's ongoing commitment to educate the public on clean and healthy living to reduce the incidence of dengue fever, which has previously affected areas such as Gemuruh Village and PT Timah’s residential complex.
“This event reflects PT Timah's concern and care for the community, particularly in preventing the spread of dengue. In addition to conducting fogging, PT Timah also wants to encourage the community to work together in maintaining a clean environment,” said Anggi Siahaan, PT Timah’s Department Head of Corporate Communication.
Fadlina, Head of the Kundur Barat Health Center and seminar speaker, explained in detail the causes, transmission, and prevention of dengue fever.
She emphasized that dengue is caused by the dengue virus, transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which often breeds in stagnant water found in items like used cans, buckets, and other containers.
“The most effective prevention isn't just fogging, but also developing clean lifestyle habits and maintaining the environment. Without breeding grounds, mosquitoes cannot lay eggs or spread the disease,” Fadlina explained.
Meanwhile, Kundur Barat Subdistrict Head, Yusufian, expressed his appreciation for PT Timah’s active role in public health education. He said the seminar was highly relevant, especially given the recent cases of dengue in the subdistrict.
“This kind of program is very much needed. It not only raises public awareness but also shows that PT Timah continues to make a real contribution to the people of Kundur Barat,” he said.
This health seminar is part of PT Timah’s ongoing efforts to improve the quality of life for communities surrounding its operational areas. With collaboration between the company, healthcare professionals, and local residents, it is hoped that the spread of dengue can be reduced and public awareness of healthy living will continue to grow.
