BANGKA BARAT – PT Timah, in collaboration with the Islamic Spiritual Group (Rohis) of Simpang Teritip State High School (SMAN Simpang Teritip), distributed food aid packages to orphans and low-income families in Simpang Teritip District, West Bangka Regency, on Tuesday (March 25, 2025).
As a member of the Mining Industry Holding MIND ID, PT Timah provided dozens of food aid packages to Rohis SMAN Simpang Teritip, which will later distribute them to those in need.
For the past four years, Rohis SMAN Simpang Teritip has been collecting donations and alms from students, teachers, parents, and donors, which are then distributed to deserving members of the community.
Rohis SMAN Simpang Teritip mentor, Armin, stated that in addition to distributing food aid, they also organize various activities during the holy month of Ramadan.
"Besides collecting and distributing food packages, Rohis also conducts a series of Ramadan activities such as a short-term Islamic boarding program (pesantren kilat), sharing free iftar meals (takjil), and hosting communal iftar gatherings at school and within the community," he explained.
He added that PT Timah’s food aid packages would be distributed to students who are orphans as well as underprivileged families around the school.
SMAN Simpang Teritip Principal Agus Risnan Jaya expressed appreciation for PT Timah’s consistent support of school activities during Ramadan.
"We are grateful to PT Timah for routinely supporting our Ramadan programs by providing food aid packages. We hope this collaboration will continue and expand in the future," he said.
One of the student beneficiaries, Zaki Viransah (14), shared his happiness upon receiving a food package from PT Timah.
"I’m happy to receive this food package from PT Timah. I will give it to my parents to help with our Eid preparations," he said.
Similarly, Riyana (15) expressed her gratitude for the assistance just before Eid.
"Alhamdulillah, as Eid approaches, we have received blessings from Allah. Thank you, PT Timah, for the food aid package," she said. (*)
