BANGKA BARAT – PT Timah Tbk continues to play an active role in supporting wildlife conservation efforts as part of its commitment to environmental preservation.
This time, PT Timah, in collaboration with the Alobi Wildlife Rescue Center of Bangka Belitung, South Sumatra BKSDA, the Bangka Belitung Animal, Fish, and Plant Quarantine Center, the West Bangka Environmental Agency, and the KTH Pelawan Menumbing Community, released two Bangka slow lorises (Nycticebus bancanus) in West Bangka on Thursday (January 30, 2025).
The two slow lorises released had previously rehabilitated at the Alobi Wildlife Rescue Center in Kampoeng Reklamasi Timah Air Jangkang and were declared fit for release.
Chairman of the West Bangka Alobi Branch, Teddy Toriko, stated that the animals released had been carefully prepared for their return to their natural habitat.
"ALOBI has successfully released 8,267 animals back into the wild in recent years. In addition to slow lorises, we have released other species, including tarsiers, pangolins, civets, eagles, and various bird species, all returning to their natural habitats," he said.
Teddy further explained that the released slow lorises were initially found in residents' yards and were handed over to Alobi.
"We conducted health checks, and after several months of monitoring, the veterinarians confirmed that they were ready for release," he added.
On this occasion, Teddy also expressed his appreciation for PT Timah Tbk's support in wildlife conservation efforts. In addition to supporting animal releases, PT Timah also contributes to the Alobi Wildlife Rescue Center at Kampoeng Reklamasi Air Jangkang.
"We are grateful to PT Timah for its consistent support in every wildlife release initiative," he said.
