BANGKA SELATAN – In commemoration of its 49th anniversary, PT Timah Tbk once again demonstrated its commitment to humanity by holding a blood donation event at the Wasprod Office Building in Toboali, Bangka Selatan Regency, on Friday (August 1, 2025).
A total of 34 bags of blood were successfully collected in this social activity, which was part of the 49th Anniversary Month of Service under the theme For the Red and White.
PT Timah collaborated with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) of Bangka Selatan Regency to carry out the blood donation initiative, as part of efforts to help meet the growing demand for blood.
Previously, PT Timah had also held blood donation drives in several of its operational areas, including Kundur, Belitung, Jakarta, Sungailiat, and Belinyu.
Bangka Selatan Regional Secretary, Hefi Nuranda, welcomed the event, noting that PT Timah’s blood donation activity greatly supports maintaining PMI’s blood stock amidst the community’s increasing needs.
“Social activities like this are very helpful for PMI, especially as we approach Indonesia’s Independence Day, when many events are held and the demand for blood rises. Moreover, today’s program also began with a community clean-up along Sudirman Street to Simpang Habang on A. Yani Street,” he said.
He expressed hope that such initiatives would not only take place during the company’s anniversary but also be held regularly as a reflection of PT Timah’s humanitarian commitment to the community.
“May PT Timah continue to grow and remain consistent in supporting social and humanitarian programs in Bangka Selatan,” Hefi added.
One of the blood donors, Zulkarnain, expressed his gratitude for being able to participate again. He said that besides benefiting others, blood donation also made him feel healthier.
“I always try to take part whenever there’s a blood donation drive, especially for PT Timah’s anniversary. It’s not just a form of social care, but also a way to maintain health. Alhamdulillah, the enthusiasm from Toboali residents and employees was remarkable,” said Zulkarnain.
He hopes such social activities will continue to be held and provide tangible benefits to the community.
