Collaboration Between PT Timah and PLN: Enhancing Power Capacity for More Efficient Operations

KARIMUN – PT Timah Tbk has formed a strategic collaboration with PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding the electricity connection for PT Timah Tbk. The agreement involves increasing the power supply from 555 KVA to 1,385 KVA at the Perayun Village location, North Kundur District, Tanjung Balai Karimun.

The MoU was signed by Wiyono, Division Head of PT Timah Tbk Area Kundur, and Apreza Pashya, Manager of PT PLN Tanjungpinang Customer Service Unit, in Tanjung Pinang on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.

This collaboration aims to ensure the availability of reliable and efficient electricity for PT Timah's operations, particularly in supporting tin production and processing activities in the Kundur Division Area.

The partnership marks PT Timah’s efforts to carry out the electrification of its business processes and take steps towards greater operational efficiency.

The MoU covers the provision of electricity for various operational units at PT Timah in the Kundur Division Area, including mineral processing facilities and other supporting infrastructure.

Anggi Siahaan, Head of Corporate Communication at PT Timah, stated that this collaboration is part of a state-owned enterprise (BUMN) partnership and a strategic move to enhance operational efficiency.

"Collaboration with PLN will strengthen PT Timah's operational sustainability through a reliable electricity supply. This is in line with our commitment to prioritizing energy efficiency and supporting the transition to environmentally friendly energy," said Anggi.

Meanwhile, Apreza Pashya, Manager of PT PLN Tanjungpinang Customer Service Unit, welcomed the collaboration. He emphasized that PLN is committed to supporting all sectors in meeting their electricity needs.

"As the electricity operator, we are ready to serve electricity needs for consumers across various sectors. This collaboration with PT Timah is to meet the electricity requirements for the company’s operations. It represents a synergy between state-owned enterprises to provide broader benefits to society," he said.

He hopes that this partnership will continue and support the company's operations in running its business processes.

The collaboration between PT Timah and PLN not only impacts the company’s operations but is also expected to contribute positively to the national economy. A stable and efficient electricity supply will strengthen the productivity of the mining sector, one of Indonesia’s key economic pillars.

This collaboration serves as concrete evidence of synergy between state-owned enterprises in supporting sustainable economic development and creating benefits for the wider community. (*)
