WEST BANGKA -- To protect the coastal ecosystem at Rubiah Bay Beach, Tanjung Village, West Bangka Regency, PT Timah Tbk together with West Bangka community groups again held mangrove planting, Tuesday (11/7/2023).
Chairman of the Gapoktan Tanjung Jaya Hendrik who is also a mentor of PT Timah Tbk said the planting of mangroves was an effort to preserve the environment in coastal areas.
Apart from planting mangroves, they also spread fish seeds in the area. So it is expected to increase fish populations that can support the sustainability of coastal ecosystems.

"This activity is a collaboration between Gapoktan, mass organizations, and the government supported by PT Timah Tbk to preserve the environment while continuing the Mangrove planting program that was carried out with PT Timah previously," said Hendrik.
He said he appreciated the commitment of the MIND ID mining industry holding members, PT Timah Tbk, and the participation of community groups who have been involved in planting mangroves and stocking fish seeds to protect coastal ecosystems.
Mentok District Secretary Rini welcomed the activities initiated by community groups in the Mentok sub-district.
"The government of the Mentok sub-district welcomes the activities carried out by Gapoktan Tanjung Jaya and the Ketapang Indah Fishermen's Group. Things like this should be preserved and maintained. Planting this tree is an effort to preserve our nature," said Rini.
Meanwhile, Extension Officer for the Marine and Fisheries Service for the West Bangka district, Ira, said that this activity was expected to be an example for other communities in terms of environmental preservation.
"We really support activities like this, I hope this activity is a good start, and an example for other people in preserving our environment," she said.
