WEST KUNDUR -- To support the social security protection program for fishermen groups, PT Timah Tbk will again provide BPJS Employment assistance to fishermen in Kundur.
This begins with socialization about the benefits of BPJS Employment membership. Collaborating with BPJS Employment Karimun Regency, this socialization was also attended by representatives of fishermen from all over Kundur District at the multi-purpose building in West Kundur District, on Wednesday (13/09/2023).
Previously on Bangka Island, which is the company's operational area, PT Timah Tbk had also handed over thousands of BPJS employees for fishermen.
This member of the MIND ID mining industry holding company realizes that social protection for fishermen groups is important. Because a disaster can strike at any time, the existence of BPJS Employment can at least help fishermen if they experience a disaster while working.
Chairman of the West Kundur District Fishermen, Ahmad, said he was very happy with the activities carried out by PT Timah so that fishermen gained knowledge regarding work accident insurance.
"On behalf of the fishermen, I would like to express my gratitude to PT Timah for holding this activity. With this outreach, the community, especially fishermen, can know more about the benefits of BPJS Employment," he said.
Likewise, Azman, a fisherman from Sawang Laut Village, said that with this kind of socialization, he could gain insight and knowledge regarding the benefits of BPJS Employment.
"After understanding this, in the near future, I will register for BPJS Employment. A program like this is very useful," he said.
Meanwhile, Sri Nuryanti, a representative of BPJS Karimun Regency, explained that BPJS Employment is not only for formal workers. However, for all Indonesian people who already have jobs such as fishermen.
"BPJS Employment is needed if we have a work accident and need money, BPJS Employment will cover the treatment costs so that people will not have difficulty getting medical treatment," She explained.
He hopes that after the fishing community participates in this socialization, they can convey it to other fishermen so that they get the correct knowledge and information.

Meanwhile, West Kundur District Head Yusufian, on this occasion representing the community and also West Kundur District, expressed his appreciation to PT Timah for again giving attention and concern for work safety.
"Currently, not all fishermen are BPJS Employment participants, so if a disaster occurs, they are always confused about providing medical expenses. Hopefully, this outreach activity will raise awareness and interest in the community, especially fishermen, to take part in the BPJS Employment Program to anticipate things that we don't want in the future. day," he said.
