Bringing New Hope: PT Timah Hands Over Three Decent Homes to Residents Near Mining Areas

PANGKALPINANG -- Owning a decent home remains a distant dream for many people due to economic constraints. Aware of this issue, PT Timah actively supports government programs by providing decent housing for communities in the company’s operational areas.

In 2024, PT Timah built 33 decent housing units for communities in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province and the Riau Islands Province. This year, in 2025, PT Timah continues its housing program for low-income families.

From January to June 2025, the member of the Indonesian Mining Industry Holding (MIND ID) has built three decent homes for residents in the Riau Islands Province.

PT Timah’s housing program targets low-income families and victims of natural disasters. This initiative aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita vision, particularly in the mission of building social infrastructure and ensuring equitable prosperity.

Additionally, building decent homes is part of TINS's commitment to improving the quality of life for communities in its operational areas, while promoting a more prosperous life as part of its Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) efforts.

This housing initiative is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to support basic community needs, especially in the housing sector.

“This program is not just about constructing physical buildings but also a reflection of the company’s concern for the future of local communities. We hope these homes can mark the beginning of a new hope and a renewed spirit in life,” said Anggi Siahaan, Department Head of Corporate Communication at PT Timah.

Anggi explained that in implementing the decent housing program, PT Timah collaborates with communities, local governments, and the Indonesian Army (TNI) as part of a joint effort to improve community welfare.

One of the beneficiaries, Iwan, expressed his appreciation to PT Timah for helping him and his family obtain a more livable home.

“Thank you PT Timah and Kodim 0317 TBK for providing me and my family with a decent place to live. Long live PT Timah,” he said.

Similarly, Nasir, a resident of Gemuruh Village, Bukit Senang, Kundur District, said he can now sleep peacefully and comfortably after his house was renovated by PT Timah.

He also expressed his gratitude for the company's and TNI’s support, which came at a time when his economic condition made it nearly impossible to renovate his home.

“I want to sincerely thank PT Timah and Kodim 0317/TBK for renovating my house. Now I can sleep peacefully and comfortably,” he said.
