The assistance provided by PT TIMAH has offered a solution for residents who had struggled to access water from the bore well for several months due to damaged equipment. The situation became increasingly difficult during the dry season, forcing residents to collect water from neighboring hamlets to meet their daily needs.
Lalang Village Head Muhammad explained that the bore well had previously served as an important water source for the community. However, damage to several components rendered the facility inoperable, leaving residents with no choice but to seek alternative sources of clean water.
"Alhamdulillah, thanks to the assistance from PT TIMAH, the bore well is now operational again. Previously, residents had difficulty obtaining water, especially during the dry season," Muhammad said.
He explained that approximately 100 households in Terang Bulan Hamlet rely on the bore well. In addition to serving local residents, the facility also supplies water to the local mosque.
Before the bore well was restored, the mosque had to spend approximately IDR 800,000 per month purchasing water. With the facility now operational again, these expenses are expected to be reduced, allowing the funds to be allocated to other needs.
According to Muhammad, the rehabilitation assistance is particularly meaningful because it addresses one of the community's most basic needs. Access to clean water not only supports daily household activities but also facilitates religious activities at the mosque.
He also expressed his appreciation to PT TIMAH for its contributions to the people of Lalang Village over the past several years.
"Thank you to PT TIMAH. The company has made many contributions that have directly benefited our community, ranging from home rehabilitation assistance and medical support to educational assistance. The benefits of this support have truly been felt by local residents," he said.
Muhammad expressed hope that PT TIMAH would continue to grow and expand its contributions to communities surrounding its operational areas, including Lalang Village.
He also hoped that cooperation between the company and the local community would continue to strengthen, particularly in managing the village's tin mineral resources.
According to him, effective communication and collaboration are essential to ensuring that mining activities, when conducted in accordance with applicable regulations, can deliver tangible benefits to the local community. (*)
