PT Timah collaborated with the Pelangi Lestari Forest Farmers Group (KTHPL), involving Tebing Subdistrict Head Khaidir representing the Regent of Karimun, representatives from PT Timah Kundur Operational Area, Pongkar Village Head Abdul Jamal, the TNI/Police, Bakamla, HNSI Pongkar, and local residents.
The trees planted are productive species expected to provide sustainable economic benefits for the surrounding community while strengthening the environmental ecosystem.
KTHPL Chairman Deny Haryadi shared that most of their members are fishermen who are now starting to pursue alternative livelihoods through farming activities. The planting of productive trees is expected to improve the economy of the group members and the Pelambung Village community.
“Thank you for the seedlings provided by PT Timah, which have opened new opportunities for us to earn additional income. This greatly helps our families, and it’s not the first time PT Timah has supported us,” he said.
He hopes that the synergy between PT Timah and the community will continue for the sake of environmental sustainability and the welfare of coastal residents.
Meanwhile, Tebing Subdistrict Head Khaidir appreciated PT Timah’s initiative and consistency in supporting environmental conservation programs in the Karimun area.
“Thank you to PT Timah for continuously supporting greening activities every year, not only by planting these trees but also through previous tree and mangrove planting efforts. This is a real commitment to environmental sustainability,” said Khaidir.
He added that all the seedlings in this activity were provided by PT Timah and are expected to become a new source of income for the community, especially for members of the farmer groups.
Pongkar Village Head Abdul Jamal also expressed his appreciation for PT Timah’s contributions, which he said have had a broad impact, not only on the environment but also on the community’s socio-economic conditions.
“PT Timah implements various social and environmental programs, from coastal abrasion aid, places of worship, livestock, MSMEs, to fisherman groups — all receiving attention from PT Timah,” he stated.
