EAST BELITUNG — A blood donation event held to celebrate the 49th anniversary of PT Timah on Belitung Island was met with enthusiasm from the community. Dozens of blood bags were collected during the “Bulan Bakti” (Month of Service) activity at the Belitung Operational Area Office (Wilasi), located in Lenggang Village, Gantung Subdistrict, East Belitung Regency, on Thursday (July 17, 2025).
Collaborating with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) of Belitung Regency, PT Timah invited the public and employees to donate blood as a way to help others. This initiative aligns with PT Timah’s 49th anniversary theme, “For the Red and White.”
Secretary of PMI Belitung, Eno, stated that a total of 50 blood bags were successfully collected during the event held in commemoration of PT Timah’s anniversary.
He noted that such blood donation drives are very helpful in maintaining the blood stock needed by hospitals. He also expressed hope that the activity could be held regularly.
“Blood donations like this are very beneficial. The collected blood will later be distributed to the regional public hospital (RSUD) to help meet blood needs,” he said.
He added that enthusiasm from both the public and PT Timah employees to donate blood was high, although some were unable to donate due to health conditions.
“Dozens of blood bags were collected today, although unfortunately, many people were unable to donate due to being unfit. We hope PT Timah will continue to hold events like this regularly,” he added.
In addition to the blood donation, PT Timah also organized a mass circumcision event and provided free medical services through the PT Timah Health Mobile Unit. These initiatives are part of PT Timah’s annual programs to commemorate the company’s anniversary.
Through these activities, PT Timah not only demonstrates its commitment to supporting public health but also strengthens its relationship with communities in its operational areas. (*)
