Blood Donation Drive During PT TIMAH’s 50th Anniversary Community Service Month Helps Meet Blood Supply Needs in Central Bangka

CENTRAL BANGKA -- As part of its 50th Anniversary Community Service Month, PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk successfully collected 55 units of blood during a blood donation drive held in Central Bangka Regency. Through this initiative, the company encouraged the public to share the gift of life and help patients in need of blood transfusions.

The blood donation event, held under the theme “Tin for the People,” took place at the Koba Multipurpose Hall in Central Bangka Regency on Wednesday (July 29, 2026), and received an enthusiastic response from the community.

All donated blood was delivered to the Central Bangka Regional Hospital (RSUD Bangka Tengah) Blood Bank to help meet the community’s ongoing demand and maintain adequate blood supplies.

Central Bangka Deputy Regent Efrianda, who attended the event, said that the demand for blood in the region remains high, making collaborative blood donation initiatives like this essential for maintaining sufficient supplies.

“If we don't organize activities like this, we may face difficulties meeting blood needs. We are grateful that PT TIMAH has held this event in Central Bangka. Hopefully, it will help address our blood shortage,” Efrianda said.

For the donors, the event was not only an opportunity to help others but also a meaningful personal experience.

One of them was Axnes Novestia (30), who learned about PT TIMAH’s blood donation drive through social media, particularly WhatsApp. Inspired to contribute, Axnes decided to participate despite it being her first time donating blood.

“I found out through social media, especially WhatsApp, that PT TIMAH was organizing a community service event. I decided to become a donor. This was my first time donating blood,” Axnes said.

She admitted feeling nervous and anxious before the donation, worrying about the pain and the blood collection process.

However, those concerns quickly disappeared once the donation began. According to Axnes, the medical staff made her feel comfortable, allowing her to complete the process calmly.

Axnes believes PT TIMAH’s blood donation program is highly beneficial because the collected blood can help save the lives of people in need.

“I think this is a wonderful and meaningful activity for those who benefit from it. I hope the blood we donated can help people recover and heal,” she said.

Another donor, Ike, said that this was her first time participating in a blood donation event organized by PT TIMAH.

Although she had donated blood several times before, Ike was happy to take part in this community initiative. She also appreciated the friendliness and professionalism of the staff, who provided excellent assistance throughout the process.

“This was my first time joining a PT TIMAH blood donation event. Alhamdulillah, I’m very happy. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful,” she said.

According to Ike, maintaining an adequate blood supply is crucial, especially during emergencies when patients need immediate transfusions. She hopes blood donation drives like this will continue to be organized regularly.

“Having enough blood in stock is very important, especially in emergency situations. It can be difficult to find ready donors when blood is urgently needed. I hope these events continue to grow and that we can meet again at future blood donation drives,” she said.

Another donor, Asep, also emphasized that blood donation is not only an act of compassion but also a social activity that can benefit donors themselves when carried out in accordance with health requirements.

“Besides being a humanitarian act, blood donation also has positive benefits for the donor. As long as someone meets the health requirements, donating blood is a great way to care for your own health while helping others,” Asep said.

He encouraged everyone who meets the eligibility requirements not to hesitate to become blood donors. According to him, the more people donate regularly, the greater the opportunity to maintain a stable blood supply for those in need.

Asep also expressed his hope that PT TIMAH’s community service programs will continue and reach even more people in the future. (*)
