Bentaian Dendang’s Quran House Accepts Book Donation from PT Timah Tbk

EAST BELITUNG – PT Timah Tbk’s Belitung Production Unit Employees gave Bentaian Dendang’s Quran House, East Belitung dozens of books on Friday (3/9/2021). This book submission was given through an event called ‘One Book One Kindness’ (Satu Buku Satu Kebaikan). It is one of series of activities from a program initiated by Indonesian Mine Holding, MIND ID named Senyawa.

Senyawa Programme is held annually every year. It began in 2020 with ‘Health’ as its theme and took up the ‘Education’ theme in 2021.
At first, MIND ID, which only consists of 5 mining companies such as PT Inalum, PT Antam, PT Freeport, PT Bukit Asam, and PT Timah only targetted to collect 1000 books for this event. But, the program successfully compiled 4000 books from most employees incorporated in MIND ID. These books are distributed all around Indonesia, and one of them is Bentaian’s Quran House.

One Book One Kindness is a tribute from MIND ID for Indonesian kids by showing their support to the literature program to increase Indonesian children’s interest in reading to widen their perception.

Bentaian’s Quran House Leader Leni said, there are around 500 Quran collections at the house and exist since years ago. She appreciated this donation from PT Timah Tbk that could add new book collections at that reading house. “This is very supporting our activity here, increasing children’s interest in reading around this area,” she said.

Leni stated that Bentaian’s Quran House has a lot of visitors, especially in the evening. It is dominated by children while the ladies attend their Taklim Council at that very Quran house.
Then Leni explains some of the problems in that Quran house, and one of them is lack of volunteers to accompany children reading or learning because kids have a quite amount of activity. “Once more, book donation is very beneficial for us. Book provided here helped (by the new book) to motivate the children,” she adds.

While Bentaian’s Village Head Gurdi welcomes the book donation, as reading interest in that Quran house is quite high. Every evening, there is always a reader who comes to the house to read some books. “We are very grateful for this donation, and hopefully this will continues in the future,” he said.

According to Gunardi, this time around they are having difficulties finding or add book collections at that Quran house. But they will try to improve the reading house in the future. (**)
