BELITUNG - The Belitung Regency Environmental Service (DLH) is collaborating with PT Timah Tbk to plant trees, in commemoration of Indonesian Tree Planting Day.
The tree planting was carried out in the former mining area of ??PT Timah Tbk, namely Air Jelutung, Badau Village, Badau District, Wednesday (29/112023).
The tree planting was also attended by the Regional Secretary of Belitung Regency, MZ Hendra Caya, Head of DLH Belitung, Yasa, Head of Badau Azhari District, Head of PT Timah Belitung Production Unit Sigit Prabowo and his staff, along with the Aik Jelutung Farmers Group.
Head of DLH Belitung, Yasa said, they had previously planted trees at that location, so this time apart from planting they also carried out replanting.
"Currently there are 100 trees in the ceremony, PT Timah Tbk will continue it, while we continue to monitor it," said Yasa.
Yasa said that the benefit of planting trees on ex-mining land is to restore the land so that it is hoped that the land will return to its original state.
"This is indeed an obligation of companies, not just PT Timah Tbk, CSR must be there for reforestation and reclamation," he said.
He explained that the participants involved in planting this tree were the Belitung Regency Government in the form of the Belitung DLH along with other OPDs, Badau District, Badau Village, along school children.
"We collaborate with PT Timah Tbk, we cannot collaborate with one OPD but involve other OPDs and together with the company, namely PT Timah Tbk," he explained.
Yasa hopes that reforestation activities on Belitung Island will be encouraged again, especially on ex-mining land such as in Badau District.
"We see that PT Timah Tbk is a company that adheres to the environment, that's why we are currently collaborating with PT Timah Tbk," he said.
Meanwhile, Belitung Regional Secretary MZ Hendra Caya appreciated that DLH Belitung collaborated with PT Timah Tbk to carry out tree planting on Indonesian Tree Planting Day at PT Timah Tbk's IUP.
"This tree must be looked after and planted, don't let it be cut down but no one will plant it," he said.
According to him, while PT Timah Tbk is very good at carrying out reclamation, implementation must continue, so that the former mine can be all green.
Moreover, Badau is predicted to become a densely populated area, so barren land must remain green.
"Today we try to plant as well as possible, PT Timah Tbk plants every year, so we do it together and in synergy," he said. (*)
