BANGKA -- A total of 138 blood bags were collected through the blood donation drive held as part of PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk’s 50th Anniversary Community Service Month at Stania Hall, Belinyu District, Bangka Regency, on Tuesday (July 28, 2026).
As part of PT TIMAH’s 50th Anniversary Community Service Month, which carries the theme "Tin for the People," the Company organized a series of activities across its operational areas, including mass circumcisions, blood donation drives, and free medical checkup services.
Through this initiative, PT TIMAH invited the community to share and help others, particularly those in need of blood transfusions. In addition to being a humanitarian effort, the blood donation drive also reflected the Company’s commitment to social responsibility by directly involving the community.
One of the blood donors, Mamas, said that he has been donating blood regularly. He was pleased to once again participate in the activity.
According to him, donating blood not only benefits others but also makes him feel more refreshed afterward.
"Blood donation is a meaningful activity. After donating blood, my body feels much more refreshed," he said.
Mamas hopes that PT TIMAH’s blood donation program can be held regularly, at least once every six months. According to him, that interval aligns with the period required before donors are eligible to donate blood again.
"If possible, it should be scheduled every six months. People who want to donate blood are usually eligible to donate again after six months," he said.
A similar sentiment was expressed by Jumardi. He said that he has participated twice in PT TIMAH’s blood donation drives. For him, donating blood is a simple way to help those in need.
"My initiative to participate in PT TIMAH’s blood donation drive is, of course, to help those in need and members of the community who require blood," Jumardi said.
He also encouraged people who have never donated blood not to hesitate to give it a try. According to him, fear of needles should not become a barrier to taking part in a humanitarian effort.
"Don't be afraid. The needle may look big, but once it's inserted and the blood starts flowing, the process goes smoothly as usual," he said.
Meanwhile, Belinyu District Secretary Agus Rafina said that the blood donation drive held as part of PT TIMAH’s 50th Anniversary Community Service Month received a positive response from the community.
According to Agus, the strong enthusiasm shown by residents to donate blood reflects the caring spirit of the Belinyu community. He believes the program will also help meet blood supply needs for residents in Belinyu and the surrounding areas.
"Every blood donation drive organized by PT TIMAH is always met with great enthusiasm from the community. Activities like this are very helpful for our community, especially for those who need blood," Agus said.
He hopes that social initiatives like this will continue to be carried out on a sustainable basis. In addition to providing direct benefits to the community, he believes the program can further strengthen the synergy between PT TIMAH and the regional government.
"As the Belinyu District Government, we hope that assistance and CSR programs like this will continue to be implemented. We also hope that the synergy between the regional government and the Company will continue to grow stronger and better," he said. (*)
