Attending the Public Discussion of Pondok Aspiration, President Director of PT Timah: Committed to Supporting Babel's Development and Economy

PANGKALPINANG -- President Director of PT Timah Ahmad Dani Virsal conveyed PT Timah's commitment to supporting development and the economy in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province.

This was conveyed by Dani when he was a resource person in a Public Discussion with the theme 'Where do you want to take the Bangka Belitung Islands Province' which was held by Pondok Aspirasi at Pondok Aspirasi Pangkalpinang, Saturday (2/3/2024).

Apart from the Managing Director of PT Timah, this Public Discussion also presented other speakers, namely; the Chancellor of Pertiba University Suhardi, Acting Expert Staff for Community Affairs and Human Resources of the Babel Provincial Government Burhanudin, Coordinator of Special Investigations of the Babel Prosecutor's Office, Amanda, Representative of Danrem Major Inf Tri Joyo and Deputy Director of Intelligence and Security of the Babel Regional Police Joko Isnawan.

This public discussion was also attended by community groups, figures from the presidium for the formation of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, and students.

These speakers explained the role of each agency in supporting the development of the Babel Islands Province. Where all agencies agree to support development in Bangka Belitung following their respective duties and functions.

Ahmad Dani Virsal said PT Timah continues to strive to optimize the wealth of natural tin resources for the welfare of the community.

"There are many things we can collaborate on to support sustainable development. PT Timah is committed to ESG which is a benchmark for sustainable environmental development," he said.

Furthermore, Dani said that PT Timah already has a long-term plan for managing tin to support development, the economy, and human resources.

"All elements build Babel in harmony and collaboration according to their duties and responsibilities. We have a lot of potential, development must not stop by empowering the community," he said.

Responding to the current problems occurring in Babel, PT Timah said Dani has been involving the community since 2000 in carrying out mining at PT Timah's IUP so that natural resource management is carried out in accordance with the rules.

"PT Timah has a long-term plan to manage tin in Babel and Riau. Today we can feel the impact of massive mining activities carried out by the community. Let us all utilize natural resources for greater impact to support the development direction of Bangka Belitung Province," he said .

Chairman of the Aspiration Boarding School, Sukirman Tanjung, said that this public discussion was an effort to gather thoughts and ideas to address Bangka Belitung's economic problems and make Bangka Belitung superior and competitive.

"Our inability to see opportunities makes us fail to achieve our goals. Babel's comparative advantage is in the form of abundant natural tin resources. 40 percent of the area of ??Kep Babel Province is forest area and this does not include HGU. PT Timah's IUP needs special attention. As good as "Good policy understands the reality of what is happening which must then be translated into a vision," he said.

He said that the results of this public discussion would be conveyed to the Provincial Government, Babel DPRD, and other agencies so that they could be addressed together for the progress of Bangka Belitung.

"The enthusiasm for thinking about where to take Bangka Belitung Province doesn't just stop here, but this resume will be followed up by having an audience with the Acting Governor and DPRD," he said.

Meanwhile, Acting Expert Staff for Community and Human Resources for the Babel Provincial Government, Burhanudin, said that as Bangka Belitung ages, it must be more advanced than the previous year.

"We will convey the aspirations of this discussion to the Acting Governor of Bangka Belitung. One of his messages is that Bangka Belitung must be more advanced than 23 years ago," he said. (*)
