BANGKA -- Since 2000, PT Timah Tbk has consistently provided educational scholarships for students in the company's operational areas through CSR PT Timah Tbk through the Pemali Boarding School program.
The member of the Indonesian mining holding MIND ID realizes that education is an important aspect to improve the quality of human resources in the mining circle.
The Pemali Boarding School Program has produced hundreds of alumni who have careers in various fields. This educational scholarship targets junior high school graduates in the company's operational areas who excel but are economically disadvantaged.
This TINS-coded issuer provides high school-level scholarships in the form of tuition fees, housing, living expenses, and educational needs for students who are placed in dormitories owned by PT Timah Tbk and are studying formally at SMAN 1 Pemali, Bangka Regency.
Special Staff of the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) for Public Communication, Arya Sinulingga directly inspected the dormitories of the recipients of the Pemali Boarding School program.
Arya accompanied by the head of the CSR Division of PT Timah Tbk, Ebi Wibisana saw the girls' dormitory, dining area, and horticultural gardens around the dormitory. Arya had a dialogue with the students about the program the students were running.
According to Arya, the consistency of TINS ??in providing educational scholarships is the first step to preparing high-quality human resources that can later support regional development.
Education, he said, is one of the steps to accelerate the improvement of the quality of human resources so that later it can make a difference for families, the environment, and the region.
"Many people have changed, their families have changed, if their education is good. This is a step by PT Timah's friends to create a boarding school for the best sons and daughters in Babel Province. This is the best step to find the best human resources in each district," said Arya after visiting the Pemali hostel.
Arya said that PT Timah Tbk has been running this program for decades. So that he is increasingly convinced that the steps taken by PT Timah Tbk can accelerate the improvement of the quality of human resources.
"This is a simple step but an acceleration to change the face of Babel's human resources. The next homework is for HR who graduate from here, leave school and then return to Babel to develop the region," he said.
"For me, this program is an accelerated step to building better Bangka Belitung human resources," continued Arya.
He also advised students who get into this program to take advantage of this opportunity. PT Timah Tbk said he had built an educational environmental ecosystem that students should take advantage of to improve their abilities.
"We hope that they will have strong discipline. PT Timah will build a comfortable environmental ecosystem so that it must be utilized. I am sure that 70 percent of friends who take part in this program will succeed. It would be a shame if PT Timah did not make the most of what has been given," he said.
One of the recipients of PT Timah Tbk's Pemali Boarding School Program, Fatir, admitted that he was happy to be able to have a dialogue with Arya Sinulingga, he said, although short, Arya had motivated them to be able to enter the state universities.
"It was nice to be able to chat directly with the Minister's Special Staff, he said earlier how we also have to have a strategy so that we can qualify for university and can contribute to making changes to our own lives," said Fatir and his colleagues.
Principal of SMAN 1 Pemali, Elfina said that PT Timah Tbk has always supported education at SMAN 1 Pemali, not only entrusting the recipients of the PT Timah Tbk scholarship class program but also supporting educational facilities and infrastructure.

Apart from visiting the Pemali Boarding School Program Dormitory, Arya Sinulingga also attended the Gen Z Talent Activation activity 'Building a Stunting-Based Digital Generation' which was held at SMAN 1 Pemali.
