JAKARTA -- PT Timah Tbk's commitment to implementing Good Mining Practices is bearing sweet fruit. This member of the MIND ID mining industry holding has won nine awards in the 2023 Achievement Award for Implementing Good Mineral and Coal Mining Techniques and Good Mining Practice (GMP Award).
The 2023 GMP Awards for PT Timah Tbk was given by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) and was handed over at the Bidakara Hotel Jakarta, on Friday (29/9/2023).
PT Timah Tbk won nine awards in the main and primary categories in the aspects of Mineral and Coal Conservation, Mining Safety, Mining Environment and Standardization, and Mining Services Business.
The details of the awards received were for the Mineral and Coal Conservation aspect, PT Timah Tbk won the Primary award which was won by PT Timah Tbk's Bangka Marine Production Unit and the main title which was won by the Bangka Land Production Unit (UPDB) and the Belitung Production Unit.
In the Mining Safety aspect, PT Timah Tbk achieved the main title obtained by the Belitung Production Unit.
Meanwhile, for the Mining Safety aspect, PT Timah Tbk won the primary title achieved by the Bangka Land Production Unit (UPDB) and the main title achieved by the Kundur Production Unit (UPB) and the Bangka Marine Production Unit (UPLB).
In the aspects of Standardization and Mining Services Business, the Bangka Land Production Unit and the Bangka Sea Production Unit won the Pratama Award.
Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Arifin Tasrif in his speech said the 2023 Good Mining Practices Award is a form of the Government's appreciation for mining companies holding KK, PKP2B, and IUP as well as mining service companies holding IUJP who have made efforts to implement good mining engineering principles.
This award is also part of a series of activities for the 78th Mining and Energy Anniversary which falls on September 28, 2023.
"This award is an appreciation for mining service companies that have implemented good mining principles. It is also a benchmark for the performance of supervision and guidance carried out by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources," he said.
He continued, that the application of good mining engineering principles is carried out through mining technical management, implementation of mineral and coal conservation, mining safety management, mining environmental management, reclamation, and post-mining, use of technology, engineering capabilities, design, and construction, as well as the development and application of mining technology. .
He expressed his appreciation to the company that had won this award and hoped that it would become a role model for other companies to be able to implement good mining principles.
"Congratulations to the award recipients, hopefully, they will become motivation and role models for all mining in Indonesia. For those who have not yet, they must increase their commitment to implementing good mining principles so that the mining sector can contribute to providing benefits to the nation and state," he said.
Meanwhile, PT Timah Tbk Corporate Secretary Abdullah Umar said that the award received was clear evidence that the company was committed to implementing Good Mining Practice principles.
