Anticipating the Dry Season, PT Timah Tbk Handed Over Drill Wells to The Village of Kayu Besi Villagers

BANGKA TENGAH -- Anticipating the water drought during the dry season, PT Timah Tbk handed over a set of drill wells to residents of Kayu Besi Village, Namang Subdistrict, Central Bangka Regency, Tuesday (5/10/2021). Currently, water is a problem for residents because the water sources owned by residents are less viable due to a lack of water drilling. This is also often a citizen's complaint.

Iron Wood Village Chief John Tamaela said the water source obtained by the surrounding residents was sourced from less deep drilling. "Even though the water is good to use and also safe to consume is water that comes from deep drilling. Water sourced from the ground with shallow drilling will produce water that is yellow and tends to contain rust which can endanger the health of residents," he said.

For this reason, he feels happy, the people of Kayu Besi Village get the help of drill wells from PT Timah Tbk. He mentioned, this drill well can reach two Neighboring Pillars (RT) in this village. "On this occasion, I would like to thank PT Timah Tbk for providing assistance, especially for the Kayu Besi community who have built a drill well unit to overcome water difficulties in the surrounding environment," he said.

"This assistance has made it easier for the community in terms of water in the daily needs of the ironwood community," continued John.

Meanwhile, representatives from Namang, Darmansyah District appreciated the assistance from PT Timah Tbk for ironwood residents. This is also in line with the government's program to prepare clean water for the community. "We from the government, especially Namang sub-district thanked PT Timah for giving its CSR in the form of a package of drill wells. Indeed one of the government programs, the needs of the community in addition to basic needs, but also clean water," he said.

For this reason, he appealed to the community to maintain and maintain this drill well. According to him, if it only depends on the government, this activity will be difficult to realize because of budget constraints.
One of the residents of Kayu Besi Village, Sustini (45) expressed his appreciation for the help. "It's nice to be easy to take water," he said.

Previously, recently PT Timah Tbk has also handed over the drill well unit to the community in Mapur Village of Bangka Regency. (**)
