BANGKA BARAT - PT Timah Tbk distributed aid to flood victims in Tanjung Village, Muntok District, West Bangka Regency, Wednesday (12/8/2021).
Heavy rains accompanied by high tides caused a number of residential areas in Tanjung Village to be flooded with water levels reaching 30 centimeters.
PT Timah Tbk in synergy with the West Bangka Regency Government, the Indonesian National Army and the National Police went directly to the scene to help residents who need help and provide ready-to-eat food, instant noodles and mineral water for flood victims.
Ready-to-eat food assistance was handed over by the Head of Meteorological Unit Administration, Arief Yudianto and the Metallurgical Unit Emergency Response Team PT Timah Tbk directly to flood victims, while Instant Noodles and Mineral Water were given to the Disaster Post.
The head of Neighbourhood 02, Evrianti said that the flooding in her area was due to high rainfall and high tides.
"The incident started at dawn when it started raining, gradually and followed by rising sea tides, causing our area to have sustained floods of almost 30 centimeters high," explained Evri.
He appreciated PT Timah Tbk for helping residents, because this assistance was really needed because people could not carry out their usual activities.
"Thanks to PT Timah, which has helped residents, has been quick and cared for residents who were affected by the disaster. Hopefully in the future it will still be like this, if possible residents can be given basic necessities," he said.
Meanwhile, West Bangka Regional Disaster Management Agency Head Achmad Nursandi said PT Timah was a Bangka Regional Disaster Management Agency partner in assisting in disaster management in West Bangka.
"Thank you for the contribution of our partner PT Timah who has quickly helped flood victims in the form of ready-to-eat food and other assistance to flood-affected residents.
