Ahead of Heroes' Day, PT TIMAH Provides Financial Assistance to Dozens of Veterans in Bangka Belitung

PANGKALPINANG -- Ahead of Heroes' Day, commemorated annually on November 10, PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk has demonstrated its commitment to honoring veterans who have contributed to Indonesia's struggle for independence.

In collaboration with Pemuda Panca Marga (PPM) Bangka Belitung and the Indonesian Veterans Legion (LVRI) of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, the company distributed financial assistance to veterans across the region.

A total of 82 veterans throughout the Bangka Belitung Islands Province received the assistance. The initiative serves as a gesture of appreciation for their service while helping them meet their needs in their later years.

In addition to the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, PT TIMAH will also provide financial assistance to 73 veterans in the Riau Islands Province.

Sapta Qodria Muafi, Chairman of Pemuda Panca Marga in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, who also serves as Deputy Secretary of the Regional Executive Board of LVRI in the province, explained that the collaboration began with PPM's efforts to support LVRI in providing assistance and attention to veterans.

He explained that his organization collected and compiled data on veterans in coordination with relevant institutions, including the Social Affairs Office. The data collection identified 82 veterans who required additional attention and support.

"Based on the data we collected, there are 82 veterans in Bangka Belitung. Initially, we proposed providing financial assistance, but PT TIMAH responded very positively. The President Director of PT TIMAH approved a higher amount of assistance, and the company also supported its distribution," Sapta said on Wednesday (October 21, 2026).

According to Sapta, PT TIMAH's support for veterans is particularly important because their living conditions vary. Some veterans continue to face financial difficulties, while not all veterans receive government allowances due to specific eligibility requirements and classifications.

Through this assistance, veterans are expected to use the funds according to their individual needs, including daily living expenses and healthcare costs.

Sapta said the distribution of assistance also provides an opportunity to visit veterans in person and strengthen relationships with them. In this way, the support goes beyond financial contributions and serves as a meaningful expression of respect and appreciation for those who have served the nation.

He expressed his appreciation for PT TIMAH's support, describing it as a tangible demonstration of the company's commitment to veterans in Bangka Belitung. He believes that collaboration between companies and veterans' organizations can serve as a positive example of how to strengthen support for those who have made significant contributions to Indonesia.

"We appreciate PT TIMAH's concern and support for our veterans. We hope this assistance will be beneficial and help meet their needs. We also hope that initiatives like this will not be limited to this year but will continue in the years ahead," he said.

He further expressed hope that future support for veterans could be expanded to address their specific needs, including home renovation assistance for veterans facing financial hardship. (*)
