Ahead of Christmas and New Year, Two Churches in Bangka Barat Receive Support from PT Timah

BANGKA BARAT—To celebrate Christmas and New Year, PT Timah provided assistance to two churches in Bangka Barat to support their holiday activities.

This initiative is part of the company’s efforts to harmonize relations with local communities around its mining operations by supporting religious celebrations.

The two churches receiving the assistance are the Himpunan Kristen Batak Protestan (HKBP) Church and the Gereja Protestan Indonesia Bagian Barat (GBIP).

The aid was handed over by Jamaludin, AVP of Administration for the Processing and Refinery Division, to representatives of the two churches last weekend.

Reverend Vylian Sipahutar of HKBP Church expressed his gratitude for PT Timah’s support in celebrating Christmas and New Year.

“PT Timah’s assistance will be used for Christmas and New Year needs. PT Timah also provided equipment for HKBP Church this year,” he said.

According to him, this is not the first time HKBP Church has received assistance from PT Timah, and he appreciated the company’s commitment to supporting religious activities in the community.

“PT Timah has also previously helped with repainting the church. We see PT Timah as a very caring and generous company that helps with places of worship. This assistance is significant. Thank you, and we pray for PT Timah’s continued success,” he said.

Meanwhile, Helen Agustina, Chairperson of the Church Holiday Committee at GBIP, said that PT Timah’s support would be utilized for their Christmas celebration.

“PT Timah’s assistance will be used for our Christmas celebration on December 27, 2024,” she explained.

Helen added that PT Timah frequently supports GBIP activities.

“First of all, we thank PT Timah for supporting the church’s activities. We hope PT Timah continues to grow and succeed so it can keep contributing to other religious programs,” Helen concluded. (*)
