Active and Healthy in Their Golden Years, Elderly Residents in Mentok Enthusiastically Join Healthy Exercise Program with PT TIMAH

BANGKA BARAT -- Enthusiasm and joy radiated from the faces of dozens of elderly residents who participated in a Healthy Exercise Program organized by PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk at Tegal Rejo Hall, Sungai Baru Village, Mentok District, on Friday (June 19, 2026).

The exercise program, which is a regular initiative of PT TIMAH’s Processing and Refinery Division, was made even more meaningful as it coincided with the commemoration of National Elderly Day (HLUN), serving as a reminder of the importance of providing opportunities and support for senior citizens to remain healthy, active, and happy in their later years.

Since early morning, participants began arriving at the venue. In addition to members of local exercise groups, several elderly residents attended independently after hearing about the event. They enthusiastically followed every movement led by the instructor.

One of the participants was Marni (69), a member of the Warna-Warni exercise group from Teluk Rubiah. She said that she regularly participates in PT TIMAH’s Healthy Exercise Program because it provides numerous benefits for both physical and mental well-being.

“I come here to maintain my health. Exercise makes my body feel fresher, reduces stress, keeps me happy, allows me to socialize with fellow seniors, and gives me an opportunity to get out and about,” she said.

According to Marni, activities like this demonstrate PT TIMAH’s concern for the community, including elderly residents who need positive activities to support their quality of life.

“We fully support this program. PT TIMAH has shown that it cares about us senior citizens. Not only the younger generation, but the elderly also deserve to enjoy their later years happily. We are grateful to still have opportunities to gather and stay active together,” she said.

She hopes that community-focused social programs will continue to be implemented sustainably.

“We hope PT TIMAH continues to grow and prosper so that programs such as free medical services, food assistance, and healthy exercise activities can continue to be carried out,” she added.

Similar enthusiasm was expressed by Susia Yuliadewi (63), a resident of Sungai Baru who participated in PT TIMAH’s Healthy Exercise Program for the first time.

“This is my first time joining. I was invited by the neighborhood head and was immediately interested in coming. After exercising, my body feels healthier and more energized. Activities like this are excellent, and I hope they continue,” she said.

Meanwhile, old age has not diminished the spirit of H. Rose (75) to remain active. The grandmother of 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild said she rarely misses any healthy exercise activities held in her community.

“Whenever I hear about a healthy exercise event, I always join. Alhamdulillah, after exercising, my body feels healthier and I feel more energetic. Activities like this are very beneficial, and I hope they continue and become even more lively in the future,” she said. (*)
