KUNDUR -- Extreme weather that often occurs and high waves around Teluk Dalam Beach, Hamlet IV, Kundur Village, West Kundur District, caused one of the walls on the shore of the beach to collapse.
The collapse of the wall that serves as a barrier to abrasion is very dangerous because it is close to the road. For this reason, PT Timah Tbk handed over assistance to repair this collapsed wall.
The village head of Kundur Marhalim was very pleased with the assistance from PT Timah. He explained that the collapsed wall was very close to the main road so if left unchecked it would be very dangerous.
"The wall has been built for a long time and it's only natural that it should be repaired, moreover in that area the water currents are quite swift between high and low tide so that the sand erodes quickly," he said.
Marhalim explained, with this assistance, his party would immediately conduct deliberations with the surrounding community to make improvements.
"To anticipate undesirable things from happening, the community previously also worked together by placing sandbags and chopping down the retaining wood so that the abrasion does not spread further," he said.
Likewise, Bachtiar, one of the people living around Teluk Dalam Beach, said that he was very happy with the assistance from PT Timah so it is hoped that repairs can be carried out immediately.
"We are very happy, because so that the abrasion does not spread further, because it is very close to a major road," he stated. (*)
