A total of 75 bags of blood were collected during PT Timah's 48th anniversary month of service at Matras

SUNGAILIAT – Blood donation is one of a series of activities for PT Timah's Month of Service which was held at the Bangka Citra Lestari Building, Matras, Sungailiat District, Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, Tuesday (09/07/24).

The Month of Service which was held to welcome PT Timah's 48th anniversary was greeted enthusiastically by residents. A total of 75 bags of blood were collected in this activity.

PT Timah collaborated with PMI Bangka Regency to carry out this blood donation activity. The blood donor participants consisted of the public and employees of PT Timah.

Head of PMI Bangka Regency Blood Donation Unit, Heri Ramadhoni is grateful for the high enthusiasm of the community to donate blood, because the need for blood at PMI is very high, while our number of donors is very low.

"Of course, we are very grateful for this collaboration with PT Timah because with this activity we can carry out massive mass donations with PT Timah," he said.

According to him, the need for blood in Bangka Regency is quite high, with around 300 to 400 bags of blood per month, with the figure per day being in the range of 10 to 15 bags of blood.

To find out the availability of bloodstock at PMI, he said the public can access the Sidora website (Blood Donor System).

"So far we have had problems with donors because people who actively donate blood don't have to wait for a mass blood donation event. "Hopefully this kind of collaboration can continue with PT Timah because we have often done this kind of collaboration," he said.

Meanwhile, Wilsan Jaya (29), a resident of Sungailiat, and one of the blood donor participants, said that he was actively donating blood.

"Thank God, once every three months I am active in donating blood. My goal in donating blood is not only to maintain body fitness but also to help people who need blood," he said. (*)
