BANGKA – A smile of relief appeared on Rohim’s face as medical staff completed the circumcision of his son, Iqbal, who took part in the Mass Circumcision event held in celebration of the 49th Anniversary Service Month of PT Timah. The event took place at the Multipurpose Hall of the Division of Engineering & Operation Excellence and Mine Support on Tuesday (August 5, 2025).
Iqbal was one of a hundred children who participated in the Mass Circumcision organized by PT Timah Tbk to mark its 49th anniversary, carrying the theme “For Merah Putih”.
“Alhamdulillah, my son has finally been circumcised for free by PT Timah. He has long wanted to be circumcised, but I was constrained by the cost. Thankfully, today it was free,” said Rohim.
The resident of Pemali Village said that PT Timah’s mass circumcision greatly helped his family amidst their financial difficulties. The program, he added, gave him a sense of relief since his son could finally be circumcised at no cost.
“I work odd jobs that only cover daily needs. I had tried registering for free circumcisions elsewhere before, but the slots were full. Yesterday, when I heard PT Timah was holding one, I registered right away. Thank you, PT Timah—this has really helped me, and now my son has been circumcised,” he said.
Meanwhile, Iqbal expressed his happiness at being circumcised, something he had long desired. He was not only grateful for the procedure but also delighted with the gift he received from PT Timah.
“I’m happy—finally Iqbal has been circumcised, though it did hurt a bit. The gift made me even happier. Thank you, PT Timah, Iqbal has been circumcised,” he said.
Similarly, Tara, a resident of Jurung Village who also took part in the mass circumcision, admitted he was very pleased with the program.
“I’m happy I’ve been circumcised, and I also got a gift from PT Timah,” Tara said after the procedure.
Tara’s parent, Fitrianti, expressed her gratitude for PT Timah’s mass circumcision program. Not only did it help financially, but it also eased her son’s nervousness.
“I joined the mass circumcision because there was an opportunity. Alhamdulillah, it was free, and my son wasn’t scared because many of his friends were there too. It reduced his anxiety, and for us parents, it was also a big help financially,” she said.
Previously, PT Timah had also organized mass circumcisions in Jakarta, Belinyu, Belitung, and Kundur. The mass circumcision program is a routine initiative by PT Timah as a form of care and solidarity with the community.
In addition to mass circumcisions, the 49th Anniversary Service Month of PT Timah also featured a blood donation drive, free health check-ups, and community service activities to clean public facilities. (*)
