49th Anniversary of PT Timah in Bangka Regency: Three Blood Donation Drives, Mass Circumcision, Healthy Week, and Free Medical Services

BANGKA -- Dozens of bags of blood were collected during the Healthy Week event celebrating the 49th anniversary of PT Timah, held in Belinyu, Bangka Regency, on Sunday (August 10, 2025).

The blood donation activity, part of the celebration themed “For the Red and White,” was enthusiastically welcomed by the community, especially as PT Timah provided gift packages for the donors.

In collaboration with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) of Bangka Regency, the event successfully collected 71 bags of blood, which will be distributed to hospitals.

Chairperson of the PMI Bangka Regency, Meina Lina, said that this was the third blood donation activity carried out with PT Timah during the company’s 49th-anniversary celebration, and together they have collected hundreds of bags of blood.

“This is the third time we’ve held this together with PT Timah in the past two months. The first was in Sungailiat, the second at the Krida Hall in Belinyu where we collected 132 bags of blood, and the third is today. In total, we’ve gathered hundreds of bags of blood,” said Meina Lina.

She noted that the enthusiasm of the community and PT Timah employees for participating in blood donation is quite high, as many have become aware of and understand the benefits of donating blood.

“With activities like this, it’s very helpful to collect and increase blood supplies. The need for blood in Bangka Regency is about 600–700 bags per month. In lively events like this, people tend to be more interested in donating—even those who didn’t initially plan to donate may be encouraged to join after seeing others do it,” she said.

Looking ahead, she hopes the synergy and collaboration between PT Timah and the PMI Bangka Regency will continue so that blood needs can be consistently met.

“We appreciate PT Timah for collaborating with the PMI Bangka Regency to hold this activity, which helps increase our blood stock. We hope this will continue in the long term,” she added.

One donor, Ita Sari (53), a resident of Belinyu, said she regularly donates blood, and with this opportunity provided at the event, she was able to help others.

“I had already planned to donate, but during the event at Krida Hall, I didn’t know there was a blood drive. Alhamdulillah, today during PT Timah’s Healthy Week event, I was able to do it,” she said.

According to her, she has experienced many benefits from donating blood, such as feeling healthier and being able to help others.

Similarly, Karsodo, a resident of Kampung Sunda, Belinyu, said he joined the blood donation activity to help people in need.

“This is my first time donating. I joined PT Timah’s Fun Walk, saw the blood donation activity, and decided to participate to help those in need of blood. Alhamdulillah, I was also blessed with some rice as a gift,” he said.

In addition to the blood drive, PT Timah’s Healthy Week in Belinyu was also enlivened with a fun walk, group Zumba, a local MSME bazaar, hundreds of door prizes for the community, and live entertainment.
