EAST BELITUNG - The fishing competition held by PT Timah Tbk with business partners in Selinsing Reclamation Village was enthusiastically welcomed by hundreds of participants, Friday (26/8/2022).
A total of 150 participants, dominated by women, participated in the fishing competition which was held to commemorate the 46th Anniversary of PT Timah Tbk and Celebrate the 77th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia (RI).
The categories that are competed are for special jackpots only for the heaviest catfish species, the heaviest tilapia class, and the heaviest local fish class.
Even though it was raining, the participants, who were mostly women, were still enthusiastic about throwing their fishing rods into the water, in order to get the heaviest fishing rods.
One of the participants, a resident of Lenggang Village, Rina Aryati, welcomed the fishing competition, because the event was interesting, especially for people who like fishing.
"Usually we fish in our own ponds, so this competition is exciting, especially for the first time participating," she said.
According to Rina, the fishing competition held by PT Timah Tbk was very impressive, because it provided a place for fishing hobbyists. So she hopes to carry out such activities regularly.
Participants from Selinsing Nila also appreciated the fishing competition, because there were many people around the competition who liked fishing. Moreover, the Hanging area has many mothers who like fishing.
"Usually we fish in groups, sometimes 6 people, sometimes 8 people, we also have groups," she explained.
Meanwhile, the Head of BUMDes Selinsing, Diki Apriansyah, said that the fishing competition was enthusiastically welcomed by local residents and outside Selinsing Village because fishing was indeed a lot of interest.
"There is actually a lot of fish there, and they have been stocked for a long time, but it seems the weather is a factor," he explained.
Similarly, Selinsing Village Head Harianto expressed his appreciation for the implementation of the fishing competition, because it was enthusiastically welcomed by the residents of Selinsing Village and its surroundings.
"We appreciate PT Timah Tbk because it can introduce the reclamation village so that there is a promotion," he said.
He hopes that the activities can be carried out again, moreover the facilities and infrastructure provided by PT Timah Tbk are available at the location, in order to increase their Bumdes income.
"The support of PT Timah Tbk is extraordinary, they are indeed there for the community," he said.
In addition to fishing competitions, PT Timah Tbk held a gaple competition which was attended by dozens of pairs of participants from Selinsing Village and its surroundings.
For participants in the fishing and gaple competition, there is no registration fee or free, the winners will get prizes and will be distributed the following week (28/8/2022).
"This event is exciting because a lot of women participate if other areas are men who participate," she said.
She said that he usually fished in the rivers around Hanging and Lake Nujau and others. Because they really like fishing.
