PT Timah Tbk Will Reactivate the Bangka Island Outdoor Area in Bangka Regency, which Could Become a Tourist Attraction

BANGKA -- PT Timah Tbk will reactivate the Bangka Island Outdoor (BIO) in Air Antu Hamlet, Deniang Village, Riau Silip District, Bangka Regency as a center for learning and human resource development.

For this reason, PT Timah Tbk held outreach to the community around BIO, at the Gazebo Kampung Melayu BIO, Thursday (17/11/2022)

The socialization was enthusiastically welcomed by the Head of the Silip Riau Sub-District, Muhammad Yasir Mustaf who said that this socialization could become a forum for facilitating all parties related to BIO land use.

"What PT Timah has done is very good, by conducting outreach and mediating with residents whose land is in the concession area affected by the development of the BIO area," he said.

In addition, according to him, this outreach is important because activating BIO can have a positive impact, such as increasing tourist visits to the area.

"We, from the sub-district, are very supportive, especially now that the conditions are very good and very beautiful. Coupled with the end of the Covid 19 condition that hit, the enthusiasm of the community for traveling is very high," he said.

He hopes that the reactivation of BIO can encourage the development of the tourism sector in this region.

"I am amazed to see the development of BIO now because in the 2000s I visited here, but the conditions were very alarming and also frightening," he said.

According to him, the reactivation of BIO will not disrupt community activities. Because this area will be used according to its designation such as fishermen and farmers can still use access to this area.

"Apart from that, the activation of BIO does not interfere with community activities at all, for example, fishermen who want to go to sea or farmers who want to go to the garden, please. Unlike the case with other companies, the accesses are even closed. It's different with PT Timah the road access has gotten better, and facilities for fishermen in the form of boat moorings have been provided. That's extraordinary, and means that this benefits the community," he said.

"We hope that the community will support this program because the potential is very good for the economy of the surrounding community. And the most important thing is that our people are not harmed," said Yasir.

The Head of KPHP Bubus Panca of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province's Forestry and Environment Service, Ruswanda said this socialization was a forum to convey that PT Timah Tbk already has permission from the Ministry to borrow and use the area.

"As forest area stakeholders, we are very grateful for the existence of certain parties who have complied with the laws and regulations so that they can manage forest areas. However, in terms of management, it must comply with existing regulations and not neglect the rights contained therein. Is there a community right to try in it, is it still limited to non-licensing or something else," he said.

He hopes that the permit granted to PT Timah Tbk can accommodate the interests of the people in it, and have a positive impact both socially and economically on the community.

"Therefore, if there are complaints from the public, their perceptions should be integrated with the community so that what is planned can go according to plan," said Wanda.

Furthermore, he also hopes that the program run by PT Timah Tbk can be supported and become a sector that can improve the people's economy.

"I am very grateful and grateful to PT tin for managing this forest area, because I am very moved so that in the future it will provide a good feel, beautiful scenery and of course have an economic impact on the surrounding community," he said.

In the future, he said, BIO will become a new tourist area that will have a tourist attraction for the community.

"This BIO area can become a tourism event and also an event to educate the people in the Bangka Belitung Islands which has a positive impact on regional investment," he said.
