Preserving Traditional Music, PT Timah Tbk Presents the Dambus Panglima Angin Group at the Bangka Belitung 22nd Anniversary Dinner

WEST BANGKA -- Bangka Belitung dambus traditional music does have an alluring charm, Malay music is the hallmark of dambus art.

Now, dambus music is indeed not as lively as it used to be, which often appears in various public entertainment stage events. To keep this regional art alive, PT Timah has developed the Dambus Panglima Angin group.

PT Timah Tbk also attended the Dambus Panglima Angin Group led by Erna at an evening dinner in commemoration of the 22nd Anniversary of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province at the Muntok Metallurgical Unit Guest House, West Bangka Regency, Tuesday (22/11/2022).

The guests who attended this banquet were:
Babel Regional Police Chief Inspector General Pol Yan Southeast Sulawesi, Forkopimda Babel, West Bangka Regent H Sukirman along with West Bangka Forkopimda and others seemed impressed by the action of the Dambus Panglima Angin group.

The Regent of West Bangka, H. Sukirman, enjoyed verse after verse of the rhymes and excerpts of the dambus, without hesitation, the Regent played his head to enjoy the music. According to him, PT Timah's banquet, presenting dambus music, is a sign that PT Timah loves traditions in Bangka Belitung.

"This is very good, on average we are getting fed up with musical banquets now, now we need traditional ones. Especially those that are played by PT Timah, indicating that PT Timah loves and cares about regional arts," said the Regent.

He continued, dambus music must also be improvised without losing its characteristics, so that it can continue to exist.

Sukirman also appreciated PT Timah Tbk for supporting the commemoration of the 22nd anniversary of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province in West Bangka Regency.

"So far PT Timah has been maximally helping the government. This indicates PT Timah cares about development in West Bangka, including in commemorating the anniversary of Babel," said the Regent.

Likewise, Bangka Belitung Regional Police Chief Inspector General of Police Yan Southeast Sulawesi admitted that he was entertained by PT Timah's traditional music.

"This is very good music, traditional music that we have to develop, because this is our culture that we have to maintain. Not only parents but young people must also be fostered to preserve it," hoped the regional police chief.

Meanwhile, Erik, a musician and singer, said he was proud to be given the opportunity by PT Timah Dambus to perform at the 22nd Babel Anniversary Dinner.

"Of course we, the Panglima Angin Dambus group, are very proud to be given the opportunity to perform by PT Timah to entertain the invited guests for the Babel anniversary. Through our appearance, we want to invite the public, especially young people to preserve dambus music," he said.
